Drivers side rear turn signal not working 1994

Well spring is here except for the snow we are getting tomorrow. So today I went to the junkyard to see if I could find a drivers side rear tail light for the 1994. A few weeks ago someone had left a shopping cart in the lot and the winds caught it and well I needed a new rear drivers side tail light.

Found the tail light and a very nice set of hatchback lifters. :beer

Well after getting everything put back together I tested the hazards and the rears worked. Thought that part was finished so off to check the drivers side door handle. After finishing that I had my daughter tell me if the break lights, reverse and tail lights all worked.

Well the drivers side rear turn signal now does not work. All other turn signals on the vehicle work. The parking light also works.

Any ideas?

Did you check the bulb?

Gotta agree with MMM, and also check the bulb socket for possible corrosion....

Ya the bulb is good tested it out and worked when the headlights are on.

Now for the crazy part went out to the car to take another look. Everything was already put back in place since I had drove. Tested it nothing then I tapped/or slapped the lens plastic bit of a joke and it's all working again. Very strange.

Again...by tapping on the housing indicates the socket needs cleaning. .

But why would it work when the headlights/taillights are on. They are not two filament bulbs.

If it's not getting a good ground all kinds of bizarre things will happen. The electricity wants to go to ground and it may travel through other lights to get there. Clean all the sockets, as if one is having issues the others usually aren't far behind. Bulb grease may help prevent a re-occurrence. Check all the connections as well. Unplug and plug all the connections a couple of times to scrape new contact surfaces.
