cheap oxygen sensor?

I have to replace the downstream 02 sensor on my 97 1.3L 2 DR HB. I went to autozone and they are charging $66 for a Bosch sensor. On ebay they have ones (most dont have a manufacturer listed) for $22.99, $28.00 and some random prices. On rockauto they have a Denso sensor for $38 + s&h...

My questions, how do they cheaper ebay ones compare to the bosch and denso? Has anyone tried these? I really dont have $40 to spend on this so I am tempted to buy the cheaper ebay one... but, I cant really afford to purchase the cheap one and have to keep replacing it...

any thoughts?

by chance anyone has a spare one laying around, how much shipped to 19956?

thanks in advance

Oxygen sensors are rather delicate devices. They can easily be damaged by mishandling. It's not like you're going to buy one on a regular basis, either. A local parts counter is preferable. ACDelco is my suggestion. You'll most likely find a Bosch sensor in the box, so there's another option.

Are you sure the O2 sensor is bad? Did it throw a code? Downstream sensor just checks how well the cat is operating. If you were to check the output of the sensor it should be flatlined if the cat is working ok.

Do you think the cat could be bad?

since i got the car a few years back i have heard a whistling coming from the exhaust, i located a small hole, it was after the 90 right before the cat. A while back, the exhaust got really loud, I looked under and noticed the 02 sensor bung because disconnected from the pipe. Yesterday I took the entire CAT off. the entire weld around the cat was bad and saw the wires to the 02 sensor were melted pretty bad(I will try and get pics later). I considered disconnecting it and just soldering a new section of wires on, but decided to see how much a new one was, thats where I am now.

But overall, I do need to replace the entire cat section

Sounds like the exhaust could use some new parts. Exhaust pipe, cat and o2 sensor.
