Here is my 97 Metro, 1.3L 2 DR HB. I bought this car from my fiances grandparents a few years back. It was just a beater car and I haven't done anything to it other then replace the alternator (twice) and build a cheap sub box to house my 12" woofer (that i got free). Apparently, when her grandparents noticed that the clear coat was blistering, they decided to paint it with blue marine paint.... WTF. A few months ago I was bored and started sanding it down, jeez that stuff is a b*tch to sand off. It started raining so I stuck the car in the garage and sprayed some primer on it so it wouldn't rust, with intentions to keep sanding it down and eventually repainting it. Anyways, here is a picture of it right now (taken this morning). I will go out later and snap a bunch more pics of everything else as its currently stands. My plans for the car, for now... * Paint the body a high gloss black * Paint engine bay black * Paint engine a stock looking silver color * Paint valve cover bright red * Replace Spark plug wires with red ones * Replace as much under the hood that I can (things that need to be replaced) * Fuel efficiency upgrades * New carpet inside * New seats (prob black with red inserts) * Paint dash, trim and radio bezel (prob black with red accents) * Replace entire exhaust, headers, and cat system * CAI * Replace broken/missing mirrors * Replace headlights * Add new custom front bumper, side skirts and rear * Add an awesome GMF.com sticker (to add HP) * Build new sub box * New set of shoes This stuff is not in any particular order, just typed it as I thought of it. I am sure I am missing a bunch. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ![]() |

I think the blue looked good. But its your car. I'm sure it will look good in black also. |

All cars look better in black. Gloss, flat, doesn't matter. Look forward to your progress. |

As you can tell. The radio bezel is pretty messed up. It looks as though someone tried to modify it. When I got the car there was no radio there. I just stuck an old one I had in there so I could have some tunes. Eventually I will either replace the stock on or fiberglass my own one up. Not sure, whenever I get my new shed delivered I will start with that stuff. |

Welcome to the forum. Nice to see a fellow Fallout Fan. Looks like a good starter car. One thing though...please don't put custom bumpers or skirts on it. The 99 bumpers look good and bolt on. Kyle |

To mount your stereo, if you have access to a junkyard, you should get the stereo cage (with pocket) from a Suzuki Esteem. Check out the link in my signature, Helpful Stereo Links. You can see a picture of the cage there.

While I respect and admire z34-5speed, I would be remiss if I didn't point out that different people have different points of view for no discernible reason. The 98 - 01 bumpers are the most hideous thing on Earth and must be discarded minutes after receiving the car. |

This, I think, is maybe the most brilliant thing I have ever heard Woodie say (and he says plenty of smart stuff).
On the other hand the 94 and earlier are square and dated. Only the GT(I) or turbo gen 1 has any style, which is why everyone so desperately seeks out the body kits, hoods, lights, grill, etc. That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it. |

Most likely I will just take off the stock bumper and modify it to my liking a little better. put some actual curves on it and make it a little more appealing. |
