Hey guys! I was thinking about adding some front mudflaps on my 2 doors baby. It’s really not about the look, it’s more because I live in Montreal - Canada and we got some dirty winters here! This car was kept out of winter from 1993 thru 2012, but now some minor surface rust have come out on the fender just after the front wheel (on the bottom part of the fender, not on the rockerguard, but just between the fronts wheels and the driver-passenger door). I’ve already been taken care of that rust, no problem here... But I want to keep the paint job I did clean and try not to expose those parts (or at least the more I can) from water, salt, slush, dirt, brake dust and whatever. So I’m thinking about cutting a piece of hard rubber (like a big truck mud-guard or something like that) and drill it where you should normally have a front fender. I do not seem to have holes or anything to mount the mudguard on my car, just regular screws to hold the plastic thing under the whole fender... So my question is, can I just drill into that? Is there anything behind that thing that I can damage while drilling here? Is there any of you who already did this? Any tips (for a kind of not-mechanical guy) that I can use? I do not want to do a top-notch job, but still, not something that’s gonna falling in a week! So thanks for sharing any usefull info about that! *and as I said in some previous posts, english is not my first language here in Montreal, so don’t knock my down for any spelling mistakes and feel free to ask any precisions! Thanks! |
