So ive got my 93 metro 1.0 and ive always had it like this i havrnt had time to check it out in detail because its my daily driver. But anyway,my temp and gas lvl gauges sorta work If i turn the car on and leave it running for a bit,the gauges will read cotrectly. But when i put it in gear, both will go up sorta at the same speed as the rpm if that makes sense. But while its in gear, they will both go up to the very top. When i park the car and leave it running, theyy both will drop steadily. Speedometer works good,i checked it with a scanner and nothing shows up.it has no effect on the cars performance, just an inconvenience having to pull over and wait to see my gas level what do you guys reccomend?have any of you had this problem ever? Im asking first because its my daily driver and im trying to get through both full time school and work so i dont have as much free time as id like. Please and thanks guys!

Check your battery voltage at high idle and report back.

Yep, voltage at idle and with the engine revved up and then you are probably going to want to start cleaning grounds. Start in the engine compartment then the grounds for the gas level sender at the back. If you are lucky, that will get it. |

14.31 at neutral and on high idle. So clean grounds then? Okay ill see if i can get that done tommorow. Where is that fuel sender lvl ground? Would it be near the fuel pump im assuming? Its strange considering both gauges do similar things.... at first i though it could be some kind of short with the gauges cables and something with the accelerator like a throttle position sensor. Hmmm.

Most likely is something is not grounding properly so it is running through the gauges to get to ground. Other possibilities exist, but this is the easy, next step. I think the ground may be under the seat but it could be on top of the gas tank, someone will pipe up I'm sure. |
