93 Geo Metro no spark. Ive read the posts about changing dist, coil, alt, check grounds, pin connections . My question has anyone found the solution? or have they just junked the cars. My 93 ran great , parked outside my office for 3 days. Went to start and nothing, just spunover. Changed the following with a running car- dist complete, coil, alt. nothing. Then fitted the removed parts to the running car and it runs. refitted oe parts back to the 93. still not running.even changed all fuses and relays. Have power to the coil on both posts. So any answers? Thanks |

Check the timing belt (look under the oil cap while someone cranks the engine), if it's broken, it won't start. |

Or undo the two bolts holding on the distributor cap, lay it back out of the way and crank the car over and see if the rotor is turning around. If the rotor is not turning then suspect your timing belt is broken and the reason for your troubles. If the rotor is turning then come back and get more information here as to what to do from here. |

So many ways to skin this particular cat. I went with the no tool/ helper necessary to crank the car, Rhino went with the tool to take the cap off/ no helper necessary version.

Just a Wild guess but if the timing belt is good then I would check to see that the computer is in working condition. |

Well it seems that most you dont have a clue, not to be offensive, but the timming belt is new and the first thing I checked. The computer is also fine. Whats UP. |

If the computer is good, is it giving any codes if you install the CEL fuse? |

Of course we don't have a clue, we're not there to look at the actual car and observe the symptoms and do test procedures, we're just advising over the internet. The timing belt is something you didn't mention so it's what we suggested. Guess it was a good idea since you checked it first as well. Now, you say you replaced the fuses and relays. The ones in the box under the hood? Have you verified power to all the fuses and relays? There are sometimes iffy connections under that box that corrode. Also, have you cleaned all your ground points? No, I mean REALLY cleaned them? This engine is very susceptible to bad grounds. If that doesn't get it, we will suggest the next in the more complicated list of possibilities. |

Just my $.02... I know you said you have done It, but those ground wires at the back of the Intake manifold under the TBI are crucial to the computer and the coil...and if you don't mind post a pic of the engine compartment showing the Dist. and Coil...

You havde a short in the wiring possibly. My 1992 metro shut off and would not crank, no fire and fuel pump would not run. Finally I had to take off the fender on drivers side and found that the rubber gromet that protects the wires going into the firewall had slipped out and one of the wires was broken. Spent four days trying to solve the problem. Good luck. |
