Car Info:
Make: Geo
Model: Metro Lsi
Engine: 4cyl 1.3L
Transmission: Auto 3Spd
Color: Red

Ok so this is how we got started.
my girlfriend started looking for a car so i had my eyes peeled, naturally for me I'm a honda fanatic
(i own a 90 crd and 91crx sir but thats my thing)
i was looking for a honda of sorts but couldn't find something cheap and in ok condition.
One day at work an older man drops by and offers me his metro for $600 i looked at the car, saw leaks EVERYWHERE. primer blotches on the hood dents on the side and just said i'll give $500 and he said thanks but no thanks.
Until then i had never seen a geo.
About 2 hours later he returns and says fine give me the $500 and i figured i'd roll my dice again and said no now ill give you $400.
he gave in and said ill take it.

So my initial goal for the car is a clean & reliable daily driver.
we had a lot of work to do.

first thing was first, a car wash lol.
then i started doing services & getting rid of those leaks

So Far:
Valve cover Gasket
Timing belt
Cam & crank Seals (they were toasted)
Water Pump
Coolant Flush
Thermostat
Oil Pan Gasket
Early Fuel Heater (Was causing CEL )
A/C Recharge
Alternator
Belts
Front Brakes & Rotors
Clean Rear Shoes
Brake Fluid Flush
Axels
Axel Seals
Tie Rod Ends
Rear Main Seal
Transmission service
Front Wheel Bearings
Lower control arms
Sway Bar End Links
Air Filter
Rear Hatch Lift Supports
Washer Fluid System repair
Dash board
steering wheel
Body Work & Paint

Still Needs:

Head Liner
New Interior Carpet
fix water leaking in through door rubbers
new speakers & amp
sound deadener (Did the spare tire area and under back seat)
power window mod :)
shocks
rims & tires

This car has been a fun little project. The first mod i did was a new radio, the one it had was aftermarket but had no cd player.
so i put a new cd player, got a new radio install kit and Replaced the broken radio trim & cup holders
a little while after new front speakers.

i did get a little carried away with the electronics i can put in there
i installed:
electric door lock actuators
the factory electric door lock switch
a viper alarm
dome lamp super vision
truck unlock actuator

A couple months after owning the car it got into a little fender bender and needed a new hood and headlights
so i got the hood off a chevy metro and headlights from a 98 so they are now a 3 light instead of a 2 light

i will be posting the few pictures i took. i didn't take many because i never thought i would start a thread haha but the love has grown

Out with the old and in with the New

The metros first real fender bender and hopefully last

welcome to the fun, You have a car that has a crank shaft sensor, putting a gasket on the oil pan can cause problems with it. It can be too far away from the target.

well so far no issues with the crank but i will keep that in mind, and thanks for the welcome.
my newest thing right now is i wanted to swap a cluster with a tach in and i got it and corrected the miles and i noticed its about 8-10 mph off on the speedo
i didn't check what year i pulled it from just noticed it was a 4cyl like mine, i need to go back and check what year and if its A/T or M/T. only thing i did notice that i didn't like was that it has no defroster indicator

And the build goes on.
so my girlfriend saved her pennies and we bought more Geo Parts :D
our parts list was:
• Rear main Seal Set
• Torque Converter Seal
• Axel Seals
• Reman Axels
• A/T Filter & Gasket Kit
• Inner & Tie Rod Ends w/ Boots
• Upper, Mid & Lower Radiator Hoses
• Torque Strut Mount

Got everything finished up this morning, Started Last Night
everything seems to be running great so far the only thing ive noticed is that i still hear a clunking noise if i go on a bumpy road so i need to check what that is, and i think i hear a front wheel bearing noise also once i start coasting down the road.

so ive been looking into getting a k&n air filter that fits in the stock spot, anyone have a experience with those?
im not looking for any "Performance" things just for the fact i can clean and reuse it

When i got that grimy transmission out

Pulled the Torque Converter Out

Cleaned the housing & Replaced the converter Seal
Posted Image

Replaced both Axel Seals too
Posted Image

Replace the Rear Main Seal (wasnt really leaking TOOOO bad)
Posted Image

These Axels had to go, they weren't clicking or anything yet just torn boots. but still messy

Radiator Hoses, Moog tie rods& those axels Misc. Parts

Great work! :gamerz Summers here and Geo's a blooming coast to coast. :lol

Looks like someone's been doing some micro surgery. ;)

Mine has been corrected mine too. The trip meter reads accurate. But the odometer reads 1/2 distance. :smackface No sure how that's possible. :news

Sway bar links, when worn, can complain sometimes.

Great to hear your ride is back on the road. :cheers

well went to the junkyard today and the geo i pulled the tacho out of was still there so i confirmed it is a 4 cyl and an auto running 13 inch rims, i havent checked what size im running yet but could that be my problem? does tbi vs mpfi make a difference? i wouldn't think so. but idk :news

The stock air filter can be cleaned. Wash with soap and water, rinse and dry. It can be cleaned many times.

the mystery continues with the speedo being off because I'm also running stock 13's and so was the donor car but yet it reads wrong the other day i was on the freeway and i was just driving at a pace and the speedo just flew from 65 to 90 for a couple seconds and back down after i let dan on the gas for a sec

When I reinstalled it into the tranny I made sure the cable went in all the way and put the clip back in

Have you checked the speedo cable to see if it's clean? A sticking cable can give you some bouncing such as you describe.
