Reatdadto2: No parasitic drain last time it was checked. Yes - I've checked it using a digital multimeter Yeah, I've put the batt on a charger - will do so prior to going to Advanced Auto. Nickb803 I have to go to them because both the batt and the alternator are under warranty. Woodie This will be my 3rd time pulling it since early May (it only took me 1 hour the last time). Big Rhino Belt is good and tight - no squealing. |

A long time ago on a 1970 car I had similar frustrations. Replaced battery, alternator, voltage regulator etc. Some guy at an auto/marine store back in the day said starter motor brushes. Ran out and bought some and re-re'd and lo and behold the thing kept a charge. Then the car would've been about 18 years old or thereabouts. Of course it would be easier to just replace the starter but the brushes are certainly cheaper...and doing it yourself. Might be worth a look. I have no idea if our starters have brushes. Maybe they all do for all I know. |
