Troubleshooting turn signals; No response at all from signals!

I am working on a 1992. I can tell someone has been into some of the mechanical and electrical components of this car. I have the clutch changed and the car drives but the lights are not all working.

I have checked the fuses, swapped the turn signal relay above the fuse block, etc. There is no flashing or indicator on the dash when you use the turn signals and they also don't light up. It is like the entire system is dead. I am assuming there is either a wiring issue somewhere or the switch is bad. Is there a way to bypass the switch to see if it works when jumpered or shorted somehow? I would like to do this first before discounting the switch as it looks like someone might have messed with the wiring in the past for a large sound system.

The headlights and brightlights work.

I would start tugging on wires on the fuse block where the turn signals plug in. On a 5 speed If the wires hang down you hit them with your foot when you shift. and they eventually break.

I will check this. Is there any way to jumper any connections to see if the connection is solid or not? I want to determine if it is the switch at this point.

I dug out a spare switch today and connected the harness. The turn signals immediately worked. One of the stalks was broken on this one so I swapped a good stalk to rebuild the broken switch assembly.

I removed the protective covering on the wiring. The wiring is in good shape and the connectors are not damaged. I am guessing that circuitry within the switch is bad as it won't flash when in either left or right position. What fails in these switches? I see some little diodes and transistors and am guessing one of these went out.

It is sad to say but one of these switches went up in that car fire I had with a parts car. Used switches look like they are going for more than I paid for the parts car.
