Ok. I am beginning the process of restoring my 1991 Geo. There is lots of work to do but the frame is solid so I am good to go. I may start a thread in the project forum, but for now I have a few questions I need help with. I picked up a 96 that is rusted on on the frame and other places but got 2 engines and more.. The quarter panels and doors are in excellent shape. I was out looking at both cars and I realize that the doors on the 96 and the quarter panels have curves that the 91 does not. Is it possible or has anyone done this where you swap out both quarter panels and doors from a 96 and install them on a 91? After looking at it, it does seem possible, but has anyone tried this? It looks like the quarter panel bolts and also the door bolts will line up. Also is it possible to continue to swap out the hatch and lights as well from the 96 and put them on the 91? I look forward to your response as I really dont want to dive in deep and find out it can not be done. I have read that because of the curves that the parts are not interchangeable, but what if you swapped out as I mentioned above? Thanks Sam |

The 96 is a larger car than your 91. It is has a wider track also. The front seats and door post seat belts will fit your 91. It would be good to swap the brakes , also the sway bars will fit. Use the head pipe and cat if it is not too rusty, there is a kick in the pipe to clear the sway bar. Sell the good body parts from the 96 and look for an 89-94 Swift or Metro that stuff bolts on your 91. |

So there is no way to convert the body parts from a 96? It seems if you remove the quarters and the doors and put them on the 91 they would work..Are you saying there is no way this will work? |

The quarter panels are welded on, and they are completely different. The front fenders bolt on, but they are completely different as well. It is possible to adapt body panels from completely different cars, but there will be a lot of sheet metal work to be done. |
