Rocker Panels..Replace or Repair ? What Would You Choose

I have been looking over my rocker panels and can not decide if I should replace the entire panel which will be much more time consuming and expensive.

or to mend what is now rusted out...If I go with fiberglass repair I am looking at 22" x 4" on one side and 17" x 4 on the other.

The rest seems to be solid but the issue with repairing is not knowing how much other rust is on the inside and how long it will last knowing that there may be lots of rust inside that I dont see.

So what is your opinion?

Sam

without seeing it, its just hard to picture. if its how i picture it is, i would cut out the bad/rusted out spot, then make a cardboard template of the spot, transfer template to a piece of sheet-metal, cut and weld. after welding it in, grind it down, then whatever body work to get it perfect. for something like that I don't think I would fiberglass that. but without really seeing it i can only speculate. that's just my $.02

The part of the rockers that you see is cosmetic metal. What is the main (bones) of the rockers like on the inside of the cosmetics--that is what you must make sure to remove the rust and bad spots BEFORE fixing the cosmetic metal that you see

QFT. You definitely want to see what's in there.
