Just finished my radio relocation project. What do you think? I hated having drinks in the way and having to look so far away from the road to work it.

Lots of fiberglass, body filler, and sanding over a few days.

I still have to figure out the zone selector and temp control linkages because they hit a metal brace in the dash now.

Any chance you've got more pics of the process, any shots from the back, more detailed write-up...?

I'm very interested! But your details are sparse!

I didn't take any pics during the process, sorry. I will try to explain the best I can.

First step was to cut out the climate control section just in the inside of the taper (closest to the front face)cutting all the way though the top. I left the bottom 1/4" in tact but just cut it out later. You will have a little strip(about 3/4") from the right side, and the pocket with the little curve below it in the left. Then cut around the radio opening about a 1/4" inside the bevel. Once all pieces are free you will fit the climate in the lower half and the radio in the upper half. I used strips of plastic with hot glue while holding it in the dash to get everything fit where I wanted it. Then mask the openings (gaps) with masking tape from the front. Lay a coat of fiberglass resin then put in your fiberglass mat and saturate with resin. After the first coat of resin is hard remove the masking tape and add more resin and mat to strengthen and fill. Once you have your 2 new trim pieces you will fit them together and do the same as above. Once you are happy with your structure and fit get some body filler and start shaping.

SOAB THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT I AM DOING WITH MINE. I will try and take pics as I go. That looks nice. I am going to be working twice as hard on mine to get it done. After seeing that..... Its 1am here and I just want to go out now and work on it.

After I got everything where I wanted it I bent up some brackets out of sheet metal. I got the brackets hot with a torch and pushed them through the plastic sides for more support then put screws through them.
