Need some advice. I know there is a 96 Metro 2 door hatchback in the pnp with a good windshield in it. Will it fit into my 93 2 door hatchback? A new 93 modelwindshield is about 237.00 installed locally. Looking to save some bucks on parts. Also will the driver door window regulator swap over to the 93 from the 96 model? I tried to get it out of the 96 once already but my screwdriver was not the right size. I'm going back again if someone here tells me that it will work. I'll take a small torch with me to try to loosen the screws some and get a bigger screwdriver and try again. I hope it works, my window fell into the door last night and it rained inside the Metro, had to take the Malibu to work. I miss driving at about 48 mpg. thanks GMF. |

no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no Power trains, seats, wheels (with stud changes) and the hood emblem can be swapped all years. Pretty much everything else, no. 95 up was a major redesign and all the dimensions and shapes changed. |

96 will not fit a 93... 2001 to 95 will interchange, an 89 to 94 will interchange...4dr. are the same, but, will not fit a 2dr...convertibles are just by themselves...

You can cut the price of your new windshield in half if you do it yourself. The windshield is one of the easiest things to change on a Metro. |

People advise not to do it yourself. It's a hassle and can easily get it wrong. Can you explain how it's easy to do it yourself? |

The roof moldings that go down the windshield pillars come off in under 60 seconds, and you can have the cowl and windshields wipers off in about 5 minutes. The urethane knife can be purchased for less than 20 bucks at harbor freight. You just poke the knife into the urethane and start cutting, the same way the guy that you would pay would. Yea, you will probably crack the windshield in a few places, but who cares if you are just going to throw it out anyway? The pro will have suction cups to lower the new glass onto your new urethane bead, but you can use two people instead. |

A new windshield is less than a hundred bucks, but after you buy urethane and a new top molding you will be in it for just over a hundred bucks. I do my own windshields, but if a glass company can do it for 135 or less, I will pay them to do it. Most glass installers won't do this job for a mere 20 dollar profit, so I step up. Kinda like changing your oil... It does not take a rocket scientist to do an oil change, but I will pay somebody else to do it if it costs the same as doing it myself. Things are different on my show Metros. Nobody touches them but me. |
