I luckily had a spare turn signal switch to test in the new 1992. This was definitely the culprit for the non-functional signals. I couldn't get them to work for either direction. One of the stalks was busted so I took both switches apart and did a swap. These things are pricey enough that it would be rebuilding the old one. Is this possible? Has anyone done it and what is the usual problem? I am guessing that the circuitry itself has failed. I removed the protective vinyl cover on the wire bundle and inspected the wiring and connectors. Nothing was wrong there. Conor |

Did you tug pretty good on the wires coming out of the plug? The vinyl can hide the break. |

I completely REMOVED the vinyl by cutting it off so all the wires were visible. Conor |

I just wanted everyone to know that I dis-assembled and cleaned my wiper/headlight switches. I applied dielectric grease and re-assembled. The problems with the switches were no more. Again, this was quite simple like most other things on a Metro. Conor |

This is definitely worth trying before replacing the switch. I looked at the prices and they were pretty high. Conor |
