2 years of torment!; timing issues?

I pulled the crank sprocket to see if the woodruff key got mangled and allowed it move. It looks perfect. Pulled the cam sprocket to see if anything looks wrong there. All is good there. I pulled the valve cover to make sure that the cam hadn't cracked or broke in some way. All looks good there too.

I am done for the day on it. .....

stop. set the engine to #1 at Top Dead Center.
pull the cap. is the rotor facing #1?

are the plug wires routed to the correct cylinders?
center plug wire on and seated both sides?
other 3 plug wires seated?
rotor all the way on?
2 screws holding pick up coil in distributor down tight, recheck gap?
white wire clip connected for pick up coil?
black wire clip connected and other ends ground to distributor mount and chasis?
new map sensor has vac line and wire harness tight?

I give up. I have spark, timing is right, and I have fuel. Still won't start. Turns over, back fires occasionally. Won't go.
Pushing into the 10 acre field and bringing in my old '82 Toyota truck to get it back to running for a 2nd set of wheels. I have exhausted every idea, theory and thought on the Geo. If someone lives near Sacramento and wants to come by sometime to look at it with me, that would be awesome. Until then...

Yes please.
I think Lockeford is about 90 minutes from me.

Last ditch checking.
Brand new harbor freight compression tester shows no compression in all 3 cyl. With the spark plug out and the compression hose screwed into it's place, I can blow air with my mouth into the combustion chamber at any point in the rotation, in all 3 cyl. When a valve is open, it is very easy. When both are closed, it gives the resistance of blowing bubbles in a milkshake.
Yesterday, I pulled the cam and "deflated all the lifters (brand new lifters back in Feb).
Does this trigger any ideas?

Update from 5 minutes ago:
Did a compression test on my Durango with the same tester... no compression there either. Lol.
Did the "blow into the hose" test on the Durango, when valves are closed, can't blow.

5 more minutes past...
Pulled the cam on the Geo. Removing the possibility of over-pumped lifers keeping the valves open.
Still able to blow into the spark plug hole fairly easily. :-(

No compression in all 3 cylinders usually indicates your timing belt is installed wrong or maybe you have burnt valves all the way across....

Double check all your timing marks line up right... Re-test compression wet and dry.... If it's still out of whack - pull the head and take a peek....

The one thing that bothers me through this whole process your timing light indicates the timing is off. Did you check to make sure your timing light doesn't have a built in advance? Something is off; either the timing light, the distributor, or cam timing. Did you change the cam, pulleys, sprocket or distributor? Do you remember what caused this problem in the first place?
