i thought i would start out by asking everyone on here if they have even installed power locks for the doors and hatch of a 3 door metro 1998? what i want to do is alot like what i did with power windows. i took the switches and door pods, along with the electric motors from a dodge neon expresso 2 door and retro fit them into my 98 3/5. now has anyone ever bought and retro fit the power locks from another car and used them in a metro? my first question is how and where does the signal coming from the remote get recvd from? the remote is a transmitter so where is the recvr? is it part of the computer? or can you take the 2 front doors and the hatch solenoids and the recvr from another car and use them with a metro? p[rovinding yougtet the key fon with the car at the junk yard that is. please let me know if anyone has done or attemted to do this to their metro. just thought i would ask before i dive right in. there are after market remote locks but they are well,,, uh meh..... i like more of the factory designed items better than after market sometimes. does a suzuki have power locks for the doors AND the hatch? anyone know? thanks again guys. it's a great forum isnt it ! ! ! ! redline |

Why are aftermarket meh in this instance? This is tech that has been around forever so there are no real issues with even the cheap stuff. I have power door locks and a power hatch all hooked through an alarm system to work by remote. The hatch has a button on the dash that is being replaced by a hatch release button from a different car. The locks are the switches so there are no added buttons that look out of place. The solenoids are easy to mount, can be put almost anywhere in the door and work reliably as long as things aren't gummed up in your door. |
