I was driving to work yesterday and my glass fell out of the track and wouldn't roll up. I have fixed this before on other Metros but I cannot remember if there is a trick/mod I need to do to keep it from falling out again. I did some searches but couldn't really find what I needed. Thanks! |

How do the rubbers in the channels look? Pull them out and wash 'em with some soap and water. Dawn works wonders along with a stiff brush. Look closely at the width of the channels. Squeeze the outsides together and that should add a little friction to the edge of the window. Also, before you screw in the new washers tightly, make sure you get the window rolled down to the bottommost position. Then tighten the bottom screw. |

When I pulled the door panel out I found that I have indeed fixed the glass on this door before. Well, I have at least replaced the glass - I remember it was really scratched up so I swapped it with a parts car glass before I tinted my windows. Anyway, I may have done the work before so I will definitely put the supporting washers on the screws and squeeze the tracks too. |

The bottom screw with the washer. Just as in the pic you let us view. I do believe, if my memory is correct, that the hole the screw goes through is not tight with the screw. There is some side to side play. You might want to see if you can push the screw towards the window to tighten up (or pinch) the window between the two guides. |

When you install the washers, dayle1960 is correct, there is some side to side play. Put the window in place and hold the tracks tight to it then tighten the screws. |

While my door panel is off I want to do some sound deadening / rattle reduction in there. I've had a rattle bugging me for the past two years but I always dreaded taking off that door latch surround again. Yes, I noticed that there could be some play in the front lower screw. FWIW, I stripped the head on one of the door handle screws. I'll make sure I put never-seize on the BOLT that I will use this time. It was a crappy place to have a stripped screw head and I had to drill it out. |

Some follow up: I put my new inner door latch on tonight. I inspected my window track rubber and it looked fine. I squeezed the wimpy window tracks a bit and sprayed it down with silicon. I put washers on the two bottom screws. The front screw (closest to the door hinges) looked good to me before but on second inspection the metal was ripped. I don't know if it was like that before or it just broke. If I were building a new Metro I would do some welding on the door and strengthen up the weak spots a bit. |

Those floppy tracks can bend out or in, making it possible for the door window to fall out. Check that too. I used big washers too and bolts tightened by hand with a nut driver. |
