Hey guys! So I got this ’93 auto Geo. When I let go the handbrake, normally the light on my dashboard with the red «!» goes off to let the regular headlight sign go on (green sign on the dashboard) witch is always on, as long as the car is running and that the handbrake is not pulled. Those last few days I realized that this green light seems to be on and off, sometimes it shows up when I get to work in the morning, sometimes it don’t. The actual headlights on the car are working, no problem with that! So I guess that there’s a problem with the wires connecting in the cluster area? Any idea what can it be? How can I check? I don’t really care about this light, but I was wondering if this can lead to other problems... If this signal don’t work, can some others signs malfunction in a near future? I don’t want my check engine signal or something else not going on if it needs to! Again, like i said in some previous post, English in not my 1st language, we speak french here in Montreal Canada, so sorry for any spelling mistakes, feel free to correct my and giving me outputs on this Geo problem...! Thanks! |

Hopefully some fellow Canadians will chime in, only your cars have DRL <95 . Down here only the 95+ cars have DRL. |

It should not affect your check engine light. Does the green light go off when you turn on your headlights? The green light should only be on if the car is on, the handbrake is off and the headlight switch is off. Check the plugs that go into the fuse box under the dash. It is a common problem with the headlights that the connector to the fusebox gets burnt. |

don't know if your 93 is different from my 95-but on my car an orange/white wire goes to the indicator light-maybe you can look in the area of your DRL module and see if you can see a problem- |

Check for debris in the centre console that might be pressing on the ebrake switch... Ask me how I know! |

Hey Thanks all for the replies! I took a week or two to makes some tests, and I realized that the DRL sign seems to not work properly when it's humid outside. In the morning, when we got a rainy night, it won't come on, but when it's been a nice dry summer night, it comes on. So I guess the fuse is not blown, otherwise it would never go on, regardless of the temperature! So maybe it's just the wires who are oxydated or exposed to the elements in some way... For Clarkdw, the headlight sign turns off when I turn the lights on, witch is normal. It's only when I do not put the lights on, during the day, that the green DRL sign is on. The actual lights on the front of the car works fine, no problem here. For McZukee, I look up and didn't see any debris... For what I know...? For Ptcapboy, when you say : ''(...) my car an orange/white wire goes to the indicator light-maybe you can look in the area of your DRL module and see if you can see a problem-'' where is this module is located? I was wondering where are located those wires, from the module to the dash... I'm not a mechanic so I'm not able to change all the wires by myself, but if I can just look at those wires and maybe see where the plastic sheath is broken or really worn, maybe I can patch it up! Thanks a lot guys, and let me know!! |

yeah I was looking for my DRL module about a month ago when I had a different type of headlight problem-I took off the panel at the bottom of the insturment panel and found a big plastic plug towards the left about behind where the dimmer switch is for the dash lights-don't know if this was actually the DRL module or not but when I pulled the plug apart the DRL's no longer worked-it was wrapped in a leather-like protecter-as for the DRL sign being on when the headlight switch is off, I'm sure you know that's normal- |

my use to flicker off n on then i found ground under dash passanger side by radio and tighten it and never had a issue sounds like it could be a faulty bulb maybe or bad wiring somewhere if your headlights are on but not your DRL icon then its gotta be bulb ground or wiring thats loose somewhere in dash or to fuse box |

What fireflyin said. Mine flickered to the point where the fuse would constantly blow thereby losing headlights. I was stranded at night without headlights (luckily never pulled over). You need to fully tighten the fusebox together. |
