Every time someone says coroplast I always think of "chloroplast" those microbiotic little organelle thingies (I like biology).

It annoys me :lol

check sign companies. Also look for corrugated plastic as a description. Colorplast, I believe, is a trade name.
Or check with aaronvincent and he might grow you some if you don't care how it is spelled. :D

i think the best place for coroplast is on a disposable lawn sign.

after it's up for a week, the next best place for coroplast is the trash can. :P

aaron, and you think it annoys you. ;)

Doing templates from cardboard first works very well to get sizes.

Find a local (translated - small) sign company, and tell them you are looking for scrap pieces of "x" size... I have dealt with a couple and they were both more than accommodating, especially if you are willing to take scrap off their hands that they wouldn't have otherwise been able to use for a typical sign. Like maybe a long not that wide cut off that could be used for an airdam!

Anyway, if they don't have scrap in the size/color you want, they can get bigger pieces and the local shop here did that for me at their cost. Find them, go see them in person (don't call unless you can't get there). Let them know what you are using it for (aerodynamic improvements to increase mpg). It's novel to them and not their normal type of work and they my enjoy helping you out. The last shop I got some from here in town the lady was really interested, started asking me questions about her MPG cmputer in her new FE car, and wanted to see my mods and made me promise to bring the car back to show her when they were done.

Keep in mind in which direction the bend/stress will be on your mod and think about the ribs in the material. It will curve nicely along the ribs, but will tend to "fold" if you bend parallel to them.

Good luck!

Call the politicians when you see their signs all over the place. I have found they are willing to give them to you for free.
I get the large signs that are along the roadways.
Coroplast signs are great for all kinds of projects.

Some states are in the middle of primaries right now, and the silly (campaign) season is in full swing. Soon failed politicians will be glad to have someone hide the evidence of their failure! :D :D :D

Sign companies will sell you new stuff. Govt will give you "vote for me stuff". Decides how nice you want it to be.

Never bought any, but the Home Depot down the road sells it. Next to the glass and Lexan. ^o)

I bought my stash on eBay about 5 years ago. 30 sheets of 13"-15"x48" for $60 shipped. I used most of it & sold some of it, but still have a several full sheets left.

Here's my How To on wheel skirts: http://geometroforum.com/topic/3030324/1/

When I got mine from the "scrap piles" at our local sign shop, I spent less than $20 total.. I used that to build front and rear undertrays, a grill block, a hood gap filler, and wheel skirts for my Tracker, more than one or two little "projects" in the garage, and just used up the last of it recently to build an airdam, rear undertray, and grill block for my Vert.

The only thing I would do different is go back and get black coroplast to remake my airdam. Scrap or new prices I don't care because I want to stop having to touch it up every time a rock or ground scrape makes blue show through! I wish I hadn't used up all my black on the Tracker! LOL If you buy a new sheet in the color you want it would be worth it to not have to try to paint it and have spare material for easier replacements or changes. But also, since the local sign shop was in the business of making signs and not selling coroplast, they were nice enough to get me some at their cost when I needed a full sheet for an unrelated project.

As everybody has previously stated a sign shop would be your best bet, it seems to me that all the politicians around Dayton Ohio have went to a plastic sleeve with air release holes punched out and pulled over a small wire frame for their campaign signs and actually quit using colorplast ......

Anyone remember this ? Posted Image

Those fender flares weren't for looks. They sucked the air out of the wheel well for aerodynamic effect and to reduce drag.... Perhaps in a metro this mod could increase mpgs?
