Well here is the metro engine. Pulled her out today, she is dirty, but she was running like a champ when I pulled her out. The only fill up I did for gas was 41mpg, all in town driving, with a stuck caliper for the first 100 miles, haha. My phone is having a real hard time getting pictures to paste into my posts for some reason, so I might to one picture per post...

Here is it besides the crv engine, it's smaller, but not by a crazy amount.... The metro engine is on its side pretty much, so not a good comparison picture

Well, it fits! I have some massaging to do to the passenger side frame rail, but after that, making the mounts should be pretty easy! Also I think I have found an upgrade to the stock spindles up front. We shall see....

Well, made some decent progress today. These little aluminum sleeves are adapters to allow my new spindles to ride on the stock ball joint. I will put them in place and dent in the bushing into the groove to lock it in place, then put the spindle on and drill out any remaining aluminum that might be in the way. Should hold fine.

So along with the sleeves, I also modified the top of the spindle where it bolts to the strut. It was too wide by .320", so I milled them down and will attach them to the stock new front struts I just put on a week ago. The spindles came off of a parts car I have, a 95 Probe GT. The hole pattern on the strut is off by just a little, .125", so I will open up the lower strut holes to suit.

So this is my new spindle setup, 5X114.3, and I will use my 9 spoke Mazda Millenia 15" rims with 205/50-15 tires. The rims weigh 11.5lbs a piece and are what I used to use on my twincharged Probe. this also allows me to use the stock Probe GT brakes, which will stop a metro extremely well. They stopped my 3200lb RWD Probe from 135mph without even having a brake booster. I am completely confident that this will be a very good setup for the Geo.

Now the reason I even went with the Probe spindle is because it has the same diameter and spline count as the CRV, and also a few other Hondas that have the same inner CV joint as the CRV, allowing me to have axles that might fit without any modification at all!

And also I removed a section of the passenger side frame rail to fit the transmission in there properly.

Tomorrow I plan to get the tie rods ends figured out, as the taper of the stock Geo ones are slightly smaller than the Probe ones, but the tie rod itself also looks smaller so I don't think I can just swap the Probe tie rod ends.

Also I will try to get the motor back in and mounted up so I can find out what length axles I need.

Thanks for looking.

John

Also, I forgot to add that my Vtec conversion kit came in. so I can put the Vtec head on and be that much closer to being ready to start the car after I get it all mounted up.

Found a tie rod end link that will work. Proper taper and pepper threads to the stock tie rod.

As you can see, a little research goes a long way. Spindles=done!
