The Red Baron; It's about to get nasty up in here.

Good bye

I replaced the 4 bent valves and installed a new timing chain / guide setup in a 2002 Ecotec today. Makes me think these are cheap when not running, easy fix and all aluminum. Might just fit in one of our cars. 2.0 turbo or supercharged 200 hp, 2.2 na engines in the 135-145 hp range. Still studying might be more available than a 1.8-2.0 liter Esteem. A little more power and they sold a lot of these cars.

That's cool, was that posted here because I'm running a 2.0L? Or did you pick the wrong build thread? Lol.

Well I started tearing into the motor last night. The crank pulley on these motors is about freaking horrible to get off.... I need to order head studs, and at some point a distributor, then everything should be here to get the engine running. I think today I will start playing with the wiring some.

Well, here is the vtec head mounted in place. I don't have the correct head bolts or studs right now, so it's not bolted down.

And here is a shot of the oil feed, coming from a sandwich plate. Not much accomplished today....

Made a tad bit of progress last night. Opened up the hole on the spindle where the cross bolt goes through the ball joint. Now it uses a larger diameter bolt for better interference and clamping force. Also I ordered new inner tie rods and head studs.

Right now I am debating putting in my fuel cell or if I should just drop in my extra walbro 255..... decisions decisions

Oh yeah! Keep it coming, I was thinking about a massive mill upgrade myself but not on the buggy I have right now.
This is the kind of info I need to plan out the next one...

Long time no post, I havent had the time to work on the cat with getting sick and too much other stuff going on. Tonight I worked on getting the cams in and the timing done, so now thats done, I need to grab some hardware to bolt down the valve cover. Then ill put her back in and work on buttoning up the engine side of things.

Well this is still slow motion, but hubs are complete now with the new brakes and rotors, and the tie rods are cut to the proper length to get the alignment correct. If possible, this weekend should allow for some work to get done.

Got a little more work done today. Took the seats out and pulled the carpet back to work on the shifter, then rremembered the nasty rust on the drivers side, which looked like pictured above....

so I cut out the rust section and will weld in a new plate.

After that I started working on the cable shifter. Pretty straight forward, put the shifter in place, mark some mounting holes, drill and bolt down.

so now the shifter is hooked up and feels damn good! No binds or kinks, and since I drove the crv home, I know how good the tranny is, and it will be awesome!

Also started working on the wiring, which is a mess to say the least. It is a 99-00 civic si harness that has been hacked up for a vortech centrifugal blower... hopefully it goes together good.

Hopefully more updates tomorrow as I plan to continue down this path to awesomeness!

Thanks for looking,

John

Lol, thanks! It sure doesn't seem like I'm moving fast. The last 2 weeks have been nothing but slow motion, since I have been sick and had to do a motor/trans swap on another car.

No new updates from yesterday, I had plenty of yard work and mowing to do, then decided I would rather sleep most of the day away, ha ha.
