As far as your fuel, have you ever thought about going smaller with main injectors and introducing another injector by the throttle body? |

like you said, unless you move to the msextra firmware and set up for sequential injection, batch fire and bank control is what you are left with. the cool thing about megasquirt when used with the tuner studio tuning software is that you can scale whatever injector choice you make as long as you don't exceed a certain flow rate. if you base your injector selection on desired hp (with your eyes a little big ) you can have troubles on the idle end of things.the auxiliary injector really doesn't enhance fueling accuracy. i have used it before as a rudimentary safety for wot operation but overall fueling suffers. i think that you would be better off making conservative choices for the main injectors and then using the software tuning controls at your disposal for dialing them in. you don't really need to look through other people's mapping to get things going. the tuner studio software allows you to fill out the applet menus with your system particulars and then it automatically generates fuel and ignition mapping that lets you start the engine and get an idle. then you go in and modify the mapping to suit your tune based on afr from a wide band o2 set. the megasquirt has a menu selection that includes many popular afr gauge sets so that you can connect the afr to the megasquirt controller for feedback. you will also have the option to use a single wire narrow band o2 sensor but those are really lame for proper tuning. ![]() if you buy the license for the tuner studio software ($39.95) it turns on the "magic" tuning button. you drive the car with the auto-tuning button in the on selection and the ecu tunes itself as you drive. it does it faster and with more precision than can be had when done manually. the auto-tune feature can whip out 98% of your tuning, the last 2% achieved on a dyno run. ![]() use the megasquirt manual to find the default wiring for your engine application. so many guys have used megasquirt controllers that you can find almost any application data. also, get registered at the megasquirt forum and the guys there can offer a lot of insight into your project. |

Thanks! I was not aware that you could create maps that easily with Tuner Studio. I haven't touched MS for about 6-7 years, so I am a little out of date! I have a wideband and will be hooking that up as soon as I put an actual exhaust on the car, haha. Thanks for the info! Wiring is almost done, I haven't looked at the manual for Honda specific wiring, but I have seen DIYautotunes' write up online. pretty vague, but I think I have everything that I need. All I need now is my baby boy to pop out and I can work randomly on getting it running! John |

Ladies and Gentlemen, The engine has started! It's nowhere near ready to drive, but the megasquirt did start it, so now it's time to get everything else buttoned up so I can get this thing tuned! <<<<Doing the Happy Dance.... |

super! it's always great when a technically challenging project gives you a little good news. ![]() establishing an idle with a new engine management system is the hardest part. with the megasquirt, getting the engine to fire is the biggest part of the work. the rest of the tuning is pretty easy. plug your laptop into the controller, drive with small throttle changes as the auto tuning function makes small mapping corrections. burn the new tune back to the processor. that requires that you turn the power off to reset the processor. turn off the auto tuning function and select the data logging function while you take another short drive. when you play back the log on your laptop you should see the mapping changes. i save every .bin file created by the auto tune so i have a backup point. i only ran into one situation where i had to return to a previous tuning point and that was when i was using a spoofed 6 cylinder firmware tune to run the 3 banger. i am very confident in the ability of the tuner studio's auto tuning function to make the correct mapping decisions now. it does it quicker and more accurately than is humanly possible. i still save .bin file changes just for the entertainment value of using the data logging feature to recheck the automatic mapping but the tuner studio software is really well developed. it's well worth paying the $40 to the software's author to register the freeware version. the auto tune feature is turned on and advanced tuning menus get opened up. you have done a great job of shoe horning that honda motor into a suzuki. it's not exactly my cup of tea but it has been fun watching your project develop.

Well, we have our new addition to our family! So updates will be slow. One thing I found was they upped the price of the registered version of tunerstudio to $60! Dangit! |

Lol, thanks guys! I already purchased the upgrade for tunerstudio, and I know why the car was chugging when I tried starting it, because I'm a freaking moron, and didn't have the vacuum line hooked to the map on the MS unit |

So I'm trying to clean house right now, so for me that means garage and house.... So I put the front wheels on and rolled the car out of the garage. I tell ya, I could look at this car for hours, just knowing what lurks beneath! Looks pretty damn stock minus the 5 lug and different wheels!![]() |

Yes it will. After I finish the other axle, get the cooling system working and get it tuned, it will go under the awd knife |

Hey guys, small update. Welded in some radiator supports and got the radiator all mounted securely, also decided to just weld another axle together for the other side using the correct inner and outer cv's to match what's on the car. Also got the car to actually idle, and got my T3 flange in the mail so I can make my N/A exhaust as soon as I get some piping. After all of that, I cut a car in half.... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
