Wrapping your car?; Cheaper than paint?

Everyday I walk out to my car at work, shopping, etc I notice a new scratch, dent, ding, etc. :banghead

Im thinking at this point to go for broke and be "that guy" :thumb with the riced out honda and go for a wrap. Ive seen quite a few busy wraps that should be great at hiding scratches if not minor dents, dings, etc. Im sure I should place or get a honorable mention if I decide toenter into any car show too. :whistle

I read they last 4-5 years and it goes on like window tint. What do you guys think?

:cheers

Not my cup of tea , but I bet the" tweens " would love it !!
I always thought about wrapping one of my cars so it looks like it has no outer sheet metal so you could see the mechanical aspects of it ....hmmmmm or do half of it , like a "cutaway car" ......

I was never into the carbon fiber thing. :coffee I guess I could look into red vinyl so if my plate is polled by the cops it will match the color of the registered vehicle. :P I just saw these pop up on ebay and it occurred it would hide about any damages, present and future. :thumb

How much goes the plasti dip? I had a body shop quote me between 1700-3200 to repaint and fix the damages on my car. I jokingly said Id like to get the bed liner sprayed on it or the lizzard skin. Lets face it, no one respects a fuel efficient car any more. I want something that cant be damaged or wont show. :cheers

I had a quote for a basic color from a local shop that does it for 225. Not that damage proof though

i wrapped the hoods on my swift gt and my red vert in 3 carbon fiber vinyl. the hood on the white gt has a little over a year on it, through a horrible ohio winter and summer sun on both ends of the 14 months. you can't see much difference between what's on the car and the new pieces i've had in that garage, out of the sun.

i've found that washing it with a mild detergent cleans it right up. i've used a rag damp with son of a gun (after using it to wipe down the interior) to bring a little shine to the vinyl.

snowfish has wrapped a couple of cars. ;)

There are several eBay links in the #1 post. This dealer: http://www.ebay.com/sch/dealbuy520/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ipg=&_from= has black, gloss black, something with skulls, silver chrome, carbon fiber and silver carbon fiber WRAP SHEETS.

I also see lime green and blue carbon fiber wrap in this search: 115,472 search results for 'vinyl wrap.'

With the wide range of colors available, most wouldn't know it is chalkboard paint.
