Just got a new walker exhaust set and had a shop install it for me. I warned them that the catalytic converter would probably bang against the turbine tech brace so I asked him to try to bend the pipe a bit to allow for some room. So they tried to do that as much as they could. Now, I can still hear it rattle but only on low RPMs and when taking corners. Did anyone have luck adjusting the pipe? |

You may need to just bang the heat shields out of the way. I feel the only sure way to fix this issue would be to shorten and reflair the header pipe. |

Did you install a new converter? If not, the rattling could be the converter internals. Smaller converters available that will do the same job. Another option would be to remove the lower heat shield entirely. I had to install a "test pipe" on my Wife's past 93. ![]() Even the test pipe was a fairly snug fit.

i have the turbine tech 3 point lower braces on 2 twincam cars. the catalytic converters were both raised a 1/2" above the front bar of the brace with only a readjustment of the exhaust system to raise it at the resonator. a g10 powered car is best adjusted by bending the pipe ahead of the catalytic converter slightly upward. it you are running a sway bar as well you make 2 slight bends behind the cat, too. it's not rocket science and if the exhaust shop you use can't fit the system to work around the brace i would suggest another exhaust shop. the kid who does my exhaust work puts a double bend in a 12" length, cuts the pipe, and welds in the shallow "s" to clear the brace and the sway bar. he charges me $15 and i tip him a fiver.on the rattling, the down pipe to the inlet of the catalytic converter is a double walled pipe. if the shop bent the outside pipe they may have only bent that wall and not the inside pipe. that could have made the inner pipe rattle against the outer pipe.

Nice solution t3. I had a new set of wheels put on the car so I still have this problem. My usual shop is afraid of fines from the people republik of california so I will try one in Ventura. They have a great "hot rod" community here lotsa parts and experience. |
