Considering most of us use crappy mp3's with crappy car speakers and crappy amps. it don't matter very much what kind of "crappy" electronics their are in the tablet. :-) also for $10 more ($5 $70) there is one without a removable tablet but dual core and runs jelly bean. man am I seriously tempted by that price but I have more important things to spend cash on :-) |

See, Nery found a better one. Got to double check those cheap android tablets you see online. Many are low end, single core processors, droid 2.x vs 4.4 kitkat. Til I replaced the radio in my sidekick I used a bluetooth speaker box and my ipod for music.

I decided to pull the trigger on a refurbished samsung galaxy tab 3 8 16 gb tablet for 150 on ebay. Its for more than just the car and it holds a 64gb sdcard. Still looking at the jensen head units.

So, I know it says 91 XFI under your name... do you even HAVE a Metro, really? I know you had the one, and you sold it to Metroschultz, and now it's Barb's car... And you have a Honda... Insight? Yeah. Can't recall the year. So do you have an Insight AND a Metro?

Nery, Thanks. Over the years Ive purchased about every sun 100 buck droid tablet and netbook just to end up returning it due to it just not working, not working out right, falling apart, being really, really slow, etc. I had a nexus 7, but it too the apps would freeze or stop working. Bluetooth would quit and require me to reboot it, etc. I sold it after 6 months. Although my ipod touch 4 has been great, its got a 4 inch screen and is just too small. My mother purchased a tab 3 7 with 8gb ram. Its been great the times ive played with it, although the stock apps use about 5 gb of the ram. I saw I could get double the internal memory plus the ability to have 2 apps on the screen for basically 30 bucks more. A refurbished tab 3 7 8gb is like 120 on ebay, then the 3 8 16 was 150 on ebay. I got to play with at work since I have a lot of down time and for use in the car. It could end up being my head unit assuming google maps works well offline. Radioactive, thanks. Granted my mothers ipad 2 is fun, the screen isnt as nice and its too big for the double din opening in my car. I could get an ipad mini, but those are several hundred even refurbished. Mythstae, you seem to know a lot about me and soo little. The xfi is a project, future ev.

no. tethering is typically restricted and would absolutely be restricted under tracphone (verizon) freedom pop allows tether and the phone service is critical since it allows 3g access (since your almost never going to get wimax 4g in the car anyway) $70 one time fee (purchasing the phone) after that disable auto reup in the system and it will simply stop working when you hot 500mb of usage. I believe metro allow tethering on some devices and tmo might allow tethering. some sprint phones can be hacked to allow tethering but sprint is pretty quick to update to defeat each hack it seems. |

Interesting.....Ive considered going to direct tv and net service alone is like 50-70 bucks a month from fios or concast. Looks like they offer a clear wire like service for home. Got to see how much we used. 500 mb doesnt seem like a lot for gps usage.

Got my tablet. Wow, its great and nice. I read a lot of reviews after I made the purchase and they said it was slow, wasnt worth 300 bucks, etc, etc, etc. I paid 150 and its none of what they said. Cant wait to get the odb2 app up and try google maps offline in the car.

Traveladvisor?!?!?! Thats part of the file system? Luckly it gives you the option to turn off stock crap you dont want or need. I did that to the google +, google music and some other crap. Not that its slow or has any problems, but I just dont use those apps. Same with drop boxx, not needed. I got a 64 gb sd card and 16 gb system ram. Gonna try to enjoy myself and try out torque and google maps in the car.
