You don't have 16gb of system ram. you probably have 512mb to 2gb max. (the current max is 3gb in the Note 3) that 16gb is "memory" android treats it like an SD card except its permanent and internal. separate from your RAM. if you ROOT the device you can install Titanium Explorer. you can use that to actually "uninstall" some of those built in apps (it really does help even if you don't use them) just be very careful. once rooted the system WILL NOT stop you from removing "critical" components that will trash your device. if you can "flash" different roms your pretty safe you can just reflash the rom. if you can't flash different roms be VERY careful. FREEZE the apps first if in doubt so you can unfreeze them if things go south. things like traveladvisor and yahoo etc.. are quite safe to remove. |

The nexus 7 fits in 2 din holes nicely. Just fyi They also have a knob that is Bluetooth to control the volume. Then run it to a small 4 channel amp and voila If you want a sub piggy back off that amp. Their are apps that do equalizing. If your cheep like me. If not then you may want to use a sound proccesor like the Rockford Fosgate 3sixty.3 |

I was looking at that. I notice apline has an app for their head unit for controlling it as well. Just spent the day loading mp3s to the sdcard. Couldnt get it loaded with a usb sdcard adapter, had to plug the tablet into a microusb cable and upload it that way tapping the screen every few seconds to keep it awake.

banginmetro64, how you powering the speakers? My sidekick the speakers and or wiring has issues. Im tempted to go to a pimp my ride store and ask for a new install including new speaker wires. I may do the tablet thing with amp and either direct connection or bluetooth. Are you going with the stock size speakers? |

i am using huge power amplifiers and doing custom door panels to fit 2 sets of components and doing a huge subwoofer wall. i am using a JL audio CL-RCL control for my volume so i do not need to keep touching the tablet volume. i have a small MTX 4ch amplifier if you are in need of one. the model is the Thunder 3404 (TA3404). it works great, i just have no use for it. running new speaker wires in a car is not hard work at all. car audio install is pretty easy when you look at the grand scheme of things. the hard part is finding the correct wires to connect to. the custom work is pretty tedious depending on how much custom is involved. i will be adding to my project thread when i get some more good progress. hopefully this weekend i will be done with one of the two doors. |

You got a point. I was just shopping for speakers on crutchfield. Thinking of these. Ill just get a new harness and some wire and run new wire to all 4 corners. Right now the front drivers side works most of the time. The front left cuts out as the volume is turned up past 15 on the volume dial. The rears are medium grade kenwood kcfs, but they sound like they re getting too much bass. I got a late model sony head unit that does hd radio and plays usb thumb drives. I may put that one in the honda and donate the one in the honda to metroschultz to give to a good home. Got an amp you recommend? Should I do the 4 vs 2 rear 6 inch speakers? I got room in the rear locations where they are installed. Thx. that install looks fantastic. I am going to be doing something similar in my leaf (and probably the metro too) but I will be using a sprint galaxy tab 3 7" reason? you can now BYOD these onto freedom pop. $20 activation and you get 500mb of data a month free. no monthly charge at all. download the map data on wifi and you have a very nifty voice activated navigation system using killer google maps in your car with its own data connection. also for 96 and newer odb dongle and torque gets you car data too you can also mount it in front of your stereo and simply "line in" or "bluetooth" to your stereo. (this is what I will do in the leaf since the clarion headunit is integral to the car) I plan for mine to be removable. I will also install a universal micro usb qi wireless pad and a wireless charging pad behind the unit. this will let me remove it and also NO power wire jutting out from the side! Thanks for the encouraging, I the front speakers, a new harness and 12 gauge speaker wire. Going to rewire those up first and see if its any different or better. Also going to unplug rear speakers. Then inspect rear to see if I can do 2 6 inch 4 6 inch or if I should just buy some more 4 inch speakers. Id love to get the 4 x 6 inch kit with amp for the rear and some sheet metal, screws and shoot them in under the panels in the back. I dont know Nery, I dont like bills. I know you can download google maps and use it offline, but Ive yet to try it. I see a lot of the gps, nav, dvd head units that are name brands are like 250 bucks refurbished online. I may take the plunge and go that route. My current gps has live traffic, but it tells me after the fact there is traffic or warns me when there is none to be found.

cobb i would go with a good set of rear speakers and a nice set of components for the front and amplify them. how many total speakers is all about how loud you want your stereo to go and how much electrical you have available. i would stick with what you feel comfortable working with. personally i would deck out the entire car in custom if i was not doing the stereo wall. i will be building my door panels this weekend for dual components and will post pics of my progress if i can remember...haha.....for product recommendation, i am sort of partial to MTX Audio as their products have always taken a beating from me and have never let me down. stay away from the boss, pyle, dual, jensen brands for amplifiers as they do not have the best proven track record. i understand that many here are using those products and this is just my 14year car audio installation technician/professional opinion on them. i would never install any of those products ever for my personal installs or friends installs without letting them know of the failure rate of their products and low quality. all have returned and bought better, way better. the alpine mrp line of amp are good quality amps as well. not crazy expensive but are built solid. i would also ditch the factory front 4" speakers and put then in the doors or build a kick panel for them. you will get a lot better sound if you upgrade them to 6.5" speakers. they are not hard to do at all if you know a little about fiberglass then its a breeze. if you do your own repairs on your car then its easy peasy...
