So I am a graphic designer and I currently work at Fedex Office, as such I have the ability to make custom gauges. These are not the crappy peel and stick covers that never line up, these are custom made by me to as closely match OEM quality as possible. As of right now I am only making them for myself, however if there is enough interest I can do volume orders through my work. I started this to make a classier more premium look by using white, rather than black. Also I will note these are still prototype... I will need to test the adhesive I am using to make sure it won't yellow in the sun. If it turns out that is the case, it shouldn't be too hard to find an adhesive that won't yellow. I know there are a couple of air bubbles in this sample, the final won't have them. I will be posting pictures of them installed as soon as I have time. ![]() In this picture you can see that the finish of these faceplates will be matte plastic, similar to OEM however these as they are plastic will not get fingerprints on them during installation as badly as OEM. ![]() Another sample. ![]() Here we have a sample of the light diffusion through the plastic, note that light shines mostly through the text. This is achieved using cut-vinyl for the backing. ![]() This backing is very durable and highly reflective to maximize the amount of light coming from the bulbs at night. I made these to work with the OEM incandescent but they should be fine for LED as well. Let me know if anyone is interested! |

So I scanned in the original gauges as a template for size. I made high resolution blanks of the new gauges. Tomorrow I will be printing and installing them, so I will hopefully post some pictures of the installation.

Low and behold! A picture of the installation. Will post some with the lights behind it when it gets dark tonight ![]() You will notice a few small additions to the gauges. One is I changed unleaded fuel only to premium fuel only. This is more for the future when I bump up the timing and run a turbo. And also I added the little triangle next to the fuel pump symbol that newer cars have . This signifies which side of the car your filler door is. Edited by sheananigans, Jun 27 2014, 05:21 PM.

When I click on the picture of the gauges I get browser after browser opening with a pop up about a game. Anyone else getting this??? I'm using an iPad and don't usually have viruses like this. |

The hardest part is when you pull of the needles you have to reset them during reinstallation ation. I can post a how to in the op. Mine seems to work fine accessing the photos from my galaxy s5 |

A few more screenies. They look more red and over exposed in the picture than in real life but I think I will still switch to white LEDs. ![]() [img=http://s4.postimg.org/dhcj0bbhl/20140627_203336.jpg]

Currently the only cluster style I can make is this one ![]() Reason being is that is the only gauge face plates I have to scan in. |
