The grinding feel certainly doesn't sound promising, but I wouldn't assume it's shot. Pull it apart and verify what you've got. Trans swap has been covered a few times here. Do a Google search and read up on what it takes. Its a lot easier with a full parts car. |

As it looks right now this project is going to be sidelined again - because I just today made contact with some folks selling off a complete collection of Ford Fiesta and Festiva cars - one of which has a 1600 16V Turbo engine swapped out of a Capri, right around 1990 year group. At least one is turn-key and will start right up, there are two others complete and hopeful (including the turbo car) and a whole herd of parts cars. I think in my heart I need to JUMP START myself by getting at least into some wheels that run, and with scrap prices what they are now I see no sweeter deal anywhere around. The guy behind all these cars passed away about three months ago, and as luck would have it I seem to be the first solid offer to come by and look at them all. I'll pull the head down all the way to check it - but a reman head and cam would cost at least as much as I can get the Turbo Fiesta for unless I miss my guess. And that car wasn't built by a dummy, he knew exactly what he was doing. Edited by Greywolf, Mar 12 2016, 04:45 PM.
