Cadillac EV conversion, halfway done. I had to bring that one down from the lift so I could use the lift for this 2000/ 3/5. It was nice to finally drive this 2000. I suppose it was a shame to have to replace the motor and the transmission on this rig, but I got it for pretty cheap. Now it has a great motor and transmission, and it drives great. I started doing the audio in here since my daughter likes lotsa beat, and the antenna plug seems too small to plug into the deck. I went out and looked at my "donor" 2000, and it had the same tiny antenna plug. Shit. I will have to go get an adapter for it. Anyway, I gave it some more love today since I was over at Pep Boys getting the synchromesh. I picked up an oil change, PVC, air filter, plugs n wires, and some marvel mystery oil to go along with the synchromesh. I have fabric, glue, and the skill to redo the sagging headliner, but not the time, so that will have to wait until some other time. Once I drop this off to my daughter, I will have my 97 back home for some love. The next metro project seems to be coming up, since my other daughter is inquiring about getting a Metro. She is way down in southern CA at UC riverside. I have the 94 that I bought a few weeks ago sitting at my shop, but I kinda have my eyes on it for myself since it is loaded with a bunch of cool gt stuff. I don't really want to give up my 96, since we have been together since it was new. Maybe the 97 that is coming in from Santa Cruz... |

The angle of the picture does some strange things with how that car looks. Would have never guessed that was what it was, unless it's an Allante. |

I have my feet up right now in a hotel in Santa Cruz, and the drive went great. This 2000 is a sweet running, sweet shifting metro. My daughter seemed pretty excited to swap metros for this one, and I am glad to see her have it. Here is a pic of the metro that she was having problems with. I will be driving it back home tomorrow, and it will indeed need some love. (This is an older photo from when I first bought it and towed it to my shop) ![]() I have not looked at it closely yet, but I drove it a little. There is a huge exhaust leak under the hood for sure, and people were turning around to see what was coming as I drove it. Tomorrow's drive home will be a loud few hours... I sold this rig to a buddy awhile back, and he loves the MPG. He pulled in to my shop last night and let me know how nice it is to drive from Sacramento to LA for 20 bucks. He has successfully been converted to a Metro lover. He picked up an air conditioning system from me that I had laying around, so I might be documenting an A/C install on here. The A/C system is from a 95, the one with the funny looking A/C button. |
