Ok. So I have an update on "Dr. Lincoln" or "Dr. Greenback" New rotors and pads bought at NAPA. I found out that the calipers are needing to be replaced also. Called Napa and they want 41.89 for the calipers (that's without the core fee). I asked them to order the parts. But I'm thinking of doing a caliper rebuild if that's at all possible, or practical. If anyone has some input about where I could possibly get a better deal or on how to do a rebuild; please chime in. Anyways, here are some pics that I've been taking recently. ![]() ![]() |

Hello everyone! To give an update, I just got finished rebuilding the calipers for the front brakes. I actually didn't do a "proper rebuild" with new seals and everything, I just took the calipers apart and cleaned all of the gunk out and put them back together. Brakes seem to work fine. A little bit spoungy though, maybe I need to bleed the air out again? Also I was at the junkyard and found a geo that they have with a good rear windshield with the defroster. I'm thinking about taking it and putting it on Dr. Lincoln, If anyone has done this and could give me some feedback, then please do! Here's a pic of one of the dirty calipers: ![]() I decided just to clean it and put it back together, because I'm on a budget. I would like to replace them later though. The piston wasn't pitted and all of the seals looked okay. It just had a lot of gum built up around the dust boot. Not too hard of a job actually, except for the slide hammer portion. |

Yesterday took the Geo out on an expedition. I had recently flushed out the cooling system and heater core w/ vinegar. I replaced the old coolant w/ a 60:40 coolant to water ratio, because I live in Montana where it gets into the negative temps in the winter. However, on my drive I noticed that the temp gage got almost to red a couple of times while driving up hills. I'm wondering if this was because I put too much coolant in? Otherwise the car ran fine, except that I figured out that I have a bulge in on of the tires. Also I had to drive over a couple of miles of gravel on a highway that was being resurfaced with no timing belt cover (mine is missing).

I was at the farmer's market today and I saw this in the parking lot. Figured that Dr. Lincoln would fit right in next to it. Actually the Geo isn't that much bigger.

Those are street legal around here. Same with side by side atvs, dine nights and open wheel jeeps. Lol around where I live people ride a horse to the bar and friends houses. Golf carts are extremely common. |

Yeah, the same is true here in MT. I guess that Montana used to have no speed limits. Then they decided to post speed limit signs whenever the Federal government threatened to stop funding road projects. For awhile after this happened the police would write a $5.00 ticket for speeders. The ticket was actually for "wasting natural resources" and wouldn't go on records. I guess that they regulate speeders now, however it's rare for me to see anyone pulled over. I love Montana. |

Boy does this car look familiar to me. Hmm...wonder where I've seen it before. If I were you I would go over EVERY square inch of this car with a fine tooth comb. Trust me on this... |

If you watch the video and listen carefully...![]() Geo Jeff admits that this is his handy work... Best in the world dontcha know. Oh, and it's not a rebuilt motor, he said it was new... as well as new transmission and new struts and new fuel pump and the fuel filter relocate. Of course it is not a fuel injection rated fuel filter. If the little clear plastic filter is still on there, get it out before it bursts. I think he says it has the titanium hone or some such and the torquer crank, whatever that is and the hill climber head. It does have the late model timing belt so you want the timing cover you have to get a late version and also remember that when it comes time to replace it. There is no AC delete plate so if that hasn't been replaced you are losing cooling air to the radiator. God this dude is such a tool, "it has everything, doesn't need anything". I agree, I would go over everything twice and then look for a finer tooth comb to go over it a 3rd time since he says it has every trick in the book. I wouldn't want even one trick out of his book. Since Geo Jeff already has a bad reputation on here, I don't think that I need to tell anyone about some of the odd stuff with the car (which I have already done). I made the mistake of buying the car without checking Jeff out online first. I'm also not a professional car mechanic, or even a good mechanic. I'm just a guy who likes to tinker and learn new things. Everyone makes mistakes sometimes , and I made one by spending too much money on a car. I have hope however that things can be reconciled and old "Dr. Lincoln" can be made whole again. I'm also thinking of calling out Jeff on his blatant false advertising, which I plan to do. I really would like to not spend a lot of time thinking about the infamous "Geo Jeff", and would not like this thread turn into a Geo Jeff bashing event. If enough people request and think that it's a good idea, I will start a thread about "Geo Jeff crazy stuff" that I have found in this car. Lord knows that there's plenty. So with that said, if anyone has prior experience to dealings with this man and his cars; please let me know about some things to look for, and spare me mean spirited comments that should be directed at Jeff. -Jimmy |
