Rusted Lower Suspension Mount; Chuck hole relocated lower suspension arn

Hopefully this is the right section for this inquiry. The right front wheel of the xfi caught a chuckhole today. Immediately the car started to pull to the right. A close check shows rust on the lower control arm mounts. Even though most people seem to say that the car should be junked, it seems a pity to feed another to the crusher.

My intentions are to keep the car another twenty years, so the cost of repair is a pretty small item if you spread it over 240 months. The big concern is the best way to effect repairs. So, here go the questions.

1 Cars such as Mustangs have enough repair panels to practically build a new vehicle. Are repair panels available to rebuild the control mounts
on the Metro or is it necessary to beat them out of flat sheet?

2 Has anyone attempted to build tubular subframes to avoid the problem?

3 Are there any good Metro mechanics in East/central Indiana?

4 Is this something that any good body shop can handle?

5 My welding and sheet metal skills are marginal. Is it unwise to tackle this job on a learn as you go basis?

Thanks for the help.
Terry

Old Man,
Thanks for the leads on local mechanics. There is so much on the forum that I'm sure I missed a lot.
