well this car is such a pain in the ass it's all I can do to keep from taking a baseball bat to it-I put on a new oil pump on which already had a crankshaft seal on it-I put on a new crankshaft sprocket on which has the sensor ring intact because I broke my other new one trying to get it off when it needed to come off and now I put it all back together and it leaks most of the time when started-yesterday for awhile it was NOT leaking oil-today when I started it it was -one of the bolts was a problem when installing the pump but a new longer one seems to be working-it has to be the seal or the gasket to cause it to leak 90% of the time but my gut tells me it is the seal-and that sprocket is so tight on the crankshaft that getting it off is a real pain-I see evidence of leaking oil on top of the pump but I thought the spinning crankshaft could throw it up there-I'm at my wits end any comments/advice would be appreciated-

It really has more to do with the fact that you are down to a point where some specific knowledge is necessary and you have a description of an issue that unless the part is right in front of someone, or they have worked with that part very recently, it is hard to picture what is going on. Pictures would likely generate some replies. Reading the description again I am concerned about the longer bolt. If the bolt is screwed into a blind hole that could very well be the source of your issue. The factory doesn't usually make a hole significantly deeper than the bolt. Usually there will be an additional few threads only. 2 things might have occurred; One, the bolt bottomed out before the part was clamped down fully. Or two, the bolt broke through or cracked the metal around the hole. A Helicoil or Threadsert are the proper repairs for a stripped out hole like that.
