Disassembling electrical connector; How to repair connector

The connector to my EGR relay does not always make contact. I want to take it apart to fix that. It causes Code 51s.

After resetting computer, Ck Engine light comes on as soon as I turn on the key - unless I unplug and plug back in that connector. Everything's fine after that for maybe 100 miles. I got the same behavior after changing out the relay. I also sprayed contact cleaner into the connector in case there was dirt preventing a good connection - still no change.

It is the green connector with wires going to main harness. There must be a way to push the wires through and remove the contact part. I've tried jamming tiny screwdriver in there but can't discover how to release it. Any suggestions appreciated.

Thanks

Sam

If the connections are bad, it is hard to get them back. When the connector went bad on my fuel pump under the back seat, I went to radio shack and obtained a different connector which would work. In a pinch I will use the plastic covered flat spade connectors, but they could end up in the hall of shame. You could go to a pnp and get a better connector but any time you cut and splice you are asking for future corrosion inside the wires where you cant see it. Any electrical wire which has been spliced would be every ones first places to check if trying to find an electrical problem.
