Hard Wiring Radiator Fan

So I'm trying to get my beat up 92 3/5 back on the road. We had a blown head gasket. We got that replaced and found that the radiator fan isn't kicking on. I've read up on all of the better options, but I'm afraid that the wiring in the engine compartment isn't very pretty. So I'm looking for the more quick and dirty method, as to follow the motif of the car. Can someone walk me through wiring the fan to run when the ignition switch is on?

Many Thanks,

Kick

Fixing it right is my suggestion but you could mount you a solenoid under the hood close to the battery and wire it up to the fan motor and put a toggle switch on the dash to flip on when you wanted the fan on. Run the fan straight off the battery thru the solenoid.

Here is a very crude wiring diagram of such a circuit I edited from something I seen on the internet. :lol

Just mt $.02...To see if the radiator cooling fan relay and motor circuit work, find the two wire plug in the thermostat housing and jump the wires...if the motor doesn't come on check the relay mounted near the battery...and make sure the motor itself is good...if the fan does come on replace the sensor... :type

I agree with you both, fixing it right would be ideal. The issue I keep running into is that more than one person has tried to rewire this car. There are wires going everywhere! I'm looking to hard wire it to the ignition so there's no need to deal with switches and the like. I have family that may drive the car and the last thing we want is for them to forget to kick the fan on.

Then use the same solenoid setup and tie a (hot wire when switch is on) to the solenoid instead of the toggle swtich.
