Honestly, all I'm looking for is a factory AM / FM / Clock radio for both my '91 Metro and '90 Swift.

Standard four speaker system and I'm happy.

The one in the '91 is messed up royally - I hope to pull the one out of the '91 4-dr HB at the PnP this Saturday in the hopes that it works.

The '90 Swift has no radio.

I'm fairly certain they're a different size, but I have the factroy Am/FM Cassette out of my '98 - freshly taken - if you want it

Thanks, Jon, but you are correct - they are a different size.

My '91, the radio is located above the 'environmental' controls and only about 2" - 2.5" tall.

In my '99 the radio is located below the controls and about 3.5" - 4" tall.

Oh, right... 1991.

I was thinking about the 92-94 dash - didn't even consider the 89-91. The 92-94 is still different from the 95+, right? As far as radio sizing?

92-94 should be the same as 95+, 89-91 are a "single DIN" stereo, the newer ones can be either single DIN or double DIN.

I have a stock one here with no CD or Cassette player. I will have to dig it out if you are interested in it.

all 92-2000 have factory double din holes. mounting may be different (never taken one apart in a 95-2000) only way a single din would be in their is if a P.O installed an after market kit

95-01 have plates that screw to the side of the stereo. I like the cages from an Esteem, they wrap around.
And, yes and no, about single DIN - you can use an aftermarket kit, BUT, there WAS a factory pocket as an option. ^o)
Behold!

On the left, the Esteem stereo bracket, with pocket. On the right, a 92-94 Metro stereo bracket, with pocket.
The pockets on both are removable, if you would like to install a 2-DIN stereo.

sorry misread your post. i thought you where saying that their where some 92-2000 that you could not put in a double din radio

i would like to find one of them pockets to help clean up my head unit. but eventually i think i'm going to do a tablet or a double din dvd deck

I probably got one floating around, ten bux plus shipping if I can find it.
Or, I found this on eBay...

Cheaper than mine! Never used one though, so I don't know if they are a good fit - but they sure look like it!
Or, get one from a Suzuki Esteem in a junkyard. (They are really common. The pocket is identical no matter what year it comes out of, too. You can definitely use an Esteem pocket in a 92-94)
