The 2.5+ million $ Bugatti Veyron Amphib at the beginning was unique.

The more money people have, the less brains they have. They become blithering idiots who need to me institutionalized for classic insanity.

EDIT: Or at least for being sociopaths since it seems 99% of rich people are.

Amen brother, at least to the part about how they act. But many people got the money for toys like that becasue thy were so smart, just not smart enough to realize that their money and success didn't automatically qualify them to operate something that high performance and that skills don't come standard with a title. I have seen it with expensive airplanes far too many times, only those incidents don't end up on Youtube (well some of them did I guess), they end up in flames and in the NTSB website as fatal accidents.

Good thing that if any of us here were to ever win the lottery and be able to afford some of the extremely high performance cars in that video, that not a single person here would ever drive or do anything remotely similar to some of the things in the video. ;) ;)

Bit of background on that incident - the driver was attempting to commit insurance fraud by faking the accident. He was way over his head on that car (you might say he was underwater on it! ;) ), and wanted to write it off. Unfortunately, someone with a camera was filming the whole thing. Last I heard, his money couldn't buy him out of some very serious charges, and he was looking at free housing for quite some time. ("What are you in for?" "I drove a multi-million dollar car into the bay." "I'm in for murder 2. Turn around.")

That makes sense, in that the incident didn't look like a typical loss of control accident. He wasn't driving that fast, it just looked like the car went from the road into the water.

Wonder what those are worth with a salvage title? :lol

To be fair, back in the day Enzo Ferrari would not sell you some of his cars unless you promised to go out and hammer the fuck out of them. He sometimes had you attest to this intention in writing.

He was in the business of selling race cars that could be used on the street, not just expensive penis-extenders, and he insisted that his cars be driven as such.

But some folks just don't pack the skills...

I'd love to see the crowd here keep a car with 750 horsepower on tap under control...after being used to a car with only 55. :lol

Well, first you've got a 1,000+ HP W-16 engine turning at a decent RPM ingesting water. Better start your budgeting process there. You won't find all that many usable parts at the pnp! I think I could buy a pretty nice house for less than the parts bill just on that part of it!!

And the list only starts there!! :O :O :O

I Can't Find My Tent...

That video was exactly the therapy I needed this morning. I accidentally poked a hole in the refrigerant line for my home A/C unit yesterday and felt like the biggest idiot ever. Now I feel slightly better. Thanks.

Part of why the video was his downfall is that he claimed a large bird flew up in front of the car and he swerved to avoid it. Oooops, video showed no bird and no swerve.

Moral of the story - if you drive a car that screams "LOOK AT ME!!!!", don't be surprised if people look at you!

I was wondering if that was the same Veyron. Thanks Dr. E.

And to further prove that money can't buy skills. Although it can actually buy some damn good training (if you at least have more brains than ego which often isn't the case with rich folks and high performance vehicles).

I was actually kind of impressed. I'm sure he was probably just sitting there when the damn thing just blew, but him being the consummate professional he is he went with it and made it look like it was planned. Her hatch however stayed secure and he made a very good point of showing just how well constructed they really are.

When I first heard the story I thought "well that sucks" thinking he was upside down in the payments... (kind of sarcastically, but whatever)

Now that I see he had insurance taken out at 200%+ what the car was worth, I feel better.
