Like my tittle says. Just finished a rebuild had head built by Clark at 3 tech had block machined at a reputable machine shop. Used geo Glenn's recommended napa eom head gasket even copper sprayed it but it is leakin front of motor by timing gear. So looking at motor front left corner. Just tried loosening and retorqueing. Problem persists. Please help. Only thing I found searching was cheap head gaskets going bad. I got a nice one to avoid that Thanks Nic |

Number one cam cap without sealant or cam seal blew out probably. Was the cam installed for you or did you install the cam? |

Doubt it's the reason, but you don't use anything on head gaskets. |

3tech built the head it came assembled and it's coming from head gasket not higher up I'm pretty sure. Also car seems like it's missing and idling really rough after retorqueing the bolts. It does have the stage 3 cam so I expect some rough idling but she just ain't running right I think |

Your going to have to narrow the leak down to a positive know where the leak is to really address the issue. If it is the head gasket then you can plan on tearing back into it again. Copper spray is intended for head gaskets and if used correctly should not be a problem. Did you use new head bolts and what did you torque it too? |

3tech head bolts 54 ft lbs first time. When I retorqued I went to 60 hotrod building neighbor recommended that. And I'm positive it's the head gasket just comes seeping out right at the corner. Think it might be a bad head gasket? |

I assume the alignment dowels were in the head or engine block. Really no reason to leak oil unless you jacked up the gasket some how. Was the little oil check valve in the engine block? |

I had dowels and i have the oil check valve. been working all day hopefully will tear into it tomorrow. it might be coming from behind the timing gear so what you were recommending earlier. It really looks like its coming from the head gasket but that just doesnt make sense unless idk. |

Have to check the cam seal at the very least. If oil is leaking there it will follow the seam of the head gasket and show up at that corner. |

Yup so I'm an idiot! Figured the head from 3 tech came fully assembled....BUT it did minus the camshaft seal...Just put the one in from my rebuild gasket kit. Should be good to go! this cam idles pretty rough its awesome. Also before i saw it leaking by the head gasket it looked like my oil pan was leaking at that same corner. LIterally just finshed up gonna go put some miles on the girl and see what happens. hopefully no leaks Thank you guys so much for your fast responses and help Edited by nicsagigalo, Aug 6 2014, 10:13 PM.
