Engine surging problem -- still

I am still having issues with my engine surging when I turn on the blower or lights.
I checked the coolant lines on the throttle body, and they are clear.

Someone decided to borrow my timing light and not return it, so I am going to borrow one myself this weekend.
Just to make sure I am doing this correctly, I have to jump the diagnostic port connectors, and set it at about 5-8 degrees.

The distributor is now turned all the way towards the back of the car, the engine idles at about 1500 RPM.

Am I on the right track?

Thanks guys....

Have you installed a timing belt lately? :type

The timing belt was replaced about 10,000 miles ago. It ran great for about 8,000 miles, then this started.
I am not sure the timing was ever set correctly when I got it back.

Also, I did not mention - it is a 96 1.0

Timing belt might be off a tooth...but, just for diag. purpose, unplug the push in connector on the back of the alternator and see what happens...turn the accessories on and see what happens... :type

Do it Yourselfer

My timing is set the opposite way , its set towards the front of the car. My 91 with the 1.0 idles about 800rpm.

Still the same thing when I unplugged the alternator.
Next step is check timing - I will update when I get it done

Is there a thread that tells how to check the ISC?
