95 Geo Metro stalling in reverse

Hello everyone,
I had to replace the water pump on my 95 Geo Metro last week. I had to remove the drive belt, waterpump/alternator belt and timing belt. After the pump was replaced, I placed all belts where they were suppose to go, but forgot to align the crankshaft and camshaft relative to each other. So when I started the car, her engine was vibrating violently. I then took off all the belts, aligned the crankshaft to top dead center and made sure the cam shaft was aligned. She was running again.

Here is where it gets interesting. The car is no longer overheating, the engine isn't vibrating as bad, however, whenever I reverse she sounds like she's about to cut off. When I drive forward she sounds okay.

I think it's because I have a 1.3li vehicle, is it possible that I didn't rotate the crankshaft properly? I was reading an online how to and the guy was saying that since I removed the belts without checking the camshaft and crankshaft, I may have to rotate 3 or four times.

Always rotate clockwise. Now that you have run it, align the marks and see if they are still right. Use the timing marks. You did not say how you got it to top dead center but use the marks. Also recheck distributor timing with a timing light once you know the marks are still correct.

Thanks, we used a socket wrench to rotate the crankshaft to align it to the mark, and we used a socket wrench to align the camshaft sprocket to its notch.(cam and crankshaft clockwise.) Overall, we had to undo everything and align it again. It works! The only problem now is the engine vibrates badly when she increases in temperature.

Any ideas what this could be?
