This is an easy question; Geo Metro Throttle Cable

Hi lovers of 42 MPGs. I have a 96 Geo metro 1.0 with a carburetor. My wife called me said it was making a funny noise. Turns out, hell yeah! The throttle was stuck in the take-off-to-the-moon position. We had it towed home. When it was taken off the truck suddenly it seemed back to normal. Got on the floorboards looking up where the cable comes through the firewall and connects to accelerator pedal that when i pressed on pedal and then released, the cable was not freely returning with the pedal.

I popped the nylon stopper off the top of accelerator, and from motor side i popped the plastic piece connecting to firewall and pulled cable through. From there i began pulling cable and the spring returns on carburetor pulled it right back. It seems fine. Yet im wondering if making that wide 90 degree turn toward firewall is causing enough friction to restrict free movement.

Here comes the dumb questions. Do i need to grease (or re grease) this cable? Is it supposed to have grease? Does it just need to have the sleeve cleaned? Is there a quick fix? Thank you so much for your help. By the way, 260,000 miles on this baby!

You can certainly try oiling it, but a new one doesn't cost that much.

That's not a carburetor. It's throttle body injection.
