I know some people who had the 6.0 powerstroke. It was a good engine after about $8000-10000 in work as you say. The V8 Northstars are a pain. Pretty much have to remove the upper intake to get at the starter.

I have never been a fan of ANYTHING Chrysler and I hear Mitsubishi is also a pain. The two were connected at one time.

Conor

my 91 mitsu mighty max with 2.4l is just as easy to work on as my metro is, im sure the newer ones are more a pita

So far, the ones I hate the most are Mini Coopers. Hate them. Even an oil change is a pain in the arse. It takes 5 minutes of menu scrolling just to reset the service indicator.

BMW 3.0 and 4.4 V8s in the E34 body were a pain in the ass.

You guys have come up with some good ones. One of my all time favorites to haul to the scrap yard and feel better about myself is those horrid V6 Contours/Mystiques. HATE those cars!!! :banghead

Oh, please, you can't stop there. Inquiring minds (and a few busybodies) want to know!!!! In my case, I went from a built-to-the-nuts rat motor in a '73 Chevy short-bed 4x4 (with a full race th400 and 4.56 gears) to progressively less cop-noticing vehicles. I had a little too much fun in the old Chevy and the cops were looking for any excuse to put me away, so I had to sell it.

Anything that isn't inline with a front wheel drive transmission. I.E V6 FWD Luminas, V8 FWD Cadillacs, etc. I cannot stand transverse mounted V-motors. Just makes so much of the motor impossible to work on due to the firewall!

Try a Sunbeam Tiger. It's a little English car like an MG with a Ford V8 stuffed in it. You had to pull back the carpet and remove floor panels to change the spark plugs.

Lots of people remove the decklid on Fieros to get to the spark plugs. It has a traversely mounted, rear-engine, V6 or I4.

But that's rear engine and a Fiero! I don't know many people who bought Fieros to be reliable commuter cars (see Lumina). It's a pain in the butt when the shop says they can only change half the spark plugs or it's going to be $200 to get to the other side, your choice.

Of course, this whole story is made up based on what a 7 year old boy remembered.
