could the cat converter cause the car to stall out and run rough from time to time someone please help

Yes, it would be most noticeable at high RPMs/high loads. If this is a very intermittent issue and most common on damp cool mornings, I suggest you clean the sensor grounds. I fought this for months and the solution was quite simple. You may or may not be getting check engine codes from this issue. I didn't so that made it frustrating. The car barely ran at times but no check engine light.

Do not cut it. Connect a vaccum gauge to test your convertor and if it is bad replace it. A 98 model needs a convertor. That is not likely your problem. Check engine light on? Ever done a tuneup on your car?

put new plug got used injectors out of a newer car compression is good 195 to 200 put used fuel pressure out of the same newer car ran great now it jerks and cuts out everynow and then fuel pump is good cat got red hot on me

and it put a cat code below threshold on the car have to cut it out to see if there is any damage at least if i had a smog mech i could drill a hole on each side and see the reading but i don't have that

ok cat is out the honey comb part is shot so time for a new cat and maybe a muffler due to the parts of the cat going to muffler will up date on how it runs

You need to figure out why the converter and muffler plugged up, or your new one will do the same thing.

i sprayed the motor down to clean it up a bit had car running while spraying down ran car till i didn't see any water went out the next day drove fine for about a mile then started to run rough cat got red hot on me so i fig i had water some where that it shouldn't of been let sit a few days ran fine for a year then this
