Got my odd coolant leaked figured out. The bolt hole is countersunk and very close to the thermostat opening. Gasket did not seal around it.

Coolant leak is all taken care of. Got the axles in today to find that the caliper bracket on the drivers side had pins that were froze up. Thank god I have a spare car to get parts from. Got it ready to come off the jack stand as soon as I get trans fluid in it. I think I will run some 10W30 oil in it for a couple hundred miles and then drain it and put some good fluid in it. While it is on the jack stands I put it in gear and the trans turns the tires. Good chance it is going to be ok. |

Got the trans fluid in this morning and got the car off jack stands. Torqued the axle nuts and checked all the fluids one last time. Aired up the tires and took it for a spin down the alley to the parking lot a block away. This car is totally different than the blue car I drive. I have to set the timing yet but it has some get up and go. Can't wait to get plated so I can drive it on the road. |

Glad I got my good used tires on the car. No more tires going flat in a few days. ![]() ![]() Got my turn signal fixed it had a bad socket and the headlights had a burnt connector. Nothing a spliced in new wire couldn't fix. Get my plates and insurance on this thing and it will be time to break in the motor! Road Trip. Edited by freegeo, Jan 1 2015, 10:20 PM.

I finally had a chance to drive the car and put a few miles on it. I attempted to seat the rings. I floored it in 4th gear to speed up and then let off it to decelarate. The check engine light started to flash so I let off of it and it stopped flashing and just stayed on. I checked the code and it was PO301. Found a parking lot I could adjust the timing and retard it a little. Drove it back home and did the same cycle of speed up and slow down. Check engine light did not come back on. Has a exhaust leak. The rear o2 sensor bung has come partially loose making the exhaust kinda loud. Had a noise that had me concerned, it sounded like the water pump was making it. Checked the bolts on the water pump pulley and they were loose. Tightened it up and no more noise. The motor is starting to run smoother at idle. Can't wait to take it on a long trip and see how it does. It's got a really good heater in it and i'm glad cause it has gotten really cold here in the last week or so. |

Stopped raining finally so I went out to clean on the interior some. Got the back seat out picked up some of the stuff the PO left in it. ![]() Everything so far looks to be rust free and new looking. Found a small skeleton that I thought was a mouse but after looking at it closer I'm not sure it is. ![]() Maybe a frog? |

Definitely going to have to get some good cleaner and give the interior a good cleaning. If it doesn't get to cold maybe I can get more done this week. |
