What is this "rain" that you speak of?!
The watery substance that comes from above.

So that's where our rain disappeared to...

I had a couple of rain drops hit me this morning at like 4 am...I was elated...and then not a single drop after that. Totally bummed. Its raining up island from here, though...that's something. Help put out that pesky forest fire up there...

Ok, we can get back on topic now. :P

Second edit: ZOMG! It's actually raining now! :rocker  :thumb

I had sometime this weekend to work on my engine. Got the old rear main seal out and the new one installed. Got it installed and torqued down. Trimmed the gasket down flush at the oil pan surface.

Wire brushed the head to get rid of the white powder on it. Ran the head through the ultrasonic cleaner. Put on the valve stem seals, oiled the valve stems and put them in and installed the valve spring hardware. You have to remember the the spring does go in a certain direction. There is a top and bottom to the spring.

Just have to check the flatness on the head and double check the oil gallery's are clean (see snowfish I haven't forgot) and it will be ready to put back on.

I removed the plug for the oil gallery and looked inside the hole. It is spotless. Have to get some thread sealant to make sure I don't get any leaks. Put the cam in with out the lifters and used plasti gage to check the clearance.

All the journals were between .002" to .0025". On the max of the standard spec. but not over the limit of .0047"

Just have to clean up the lifters, check the flatness of the head and it is going back on.

Finally had a chance to get back to work on my engine. Head is all done expect cleaning up the lifters and installing the cam and seal. Put my oil check valve in. Blowed all the bolt holes out for the head bolts. Installed the location pins and head gasket before putting the head on. Yes Snowfish I opened up the return holes so NO TOOTERS! :thumb

Got the head torqued down and hopefully I can get the crank timing gear installed before I go to work. Oh yea got the oil pan installed the other day too. Coming along won't be long and it will get painted and put in.

Got my lifters taken apart and run through the ultrasonic cleaner. They wouldn't even push in or move before taking them apart. Now after cleaning them and putting some 3 in 1 oil on it before putting it back together they work great. Just have to soak them over night in some oil and back in they go.

Great work! :rocker But you don't have to soak them in oil over night. :shake They're lubed. Leave them springy. They'll find their happy place very quickly. :thumb Put it together. :gamerz You have the rest of the afternoon. :cheers

My engine is larger than a 1/4 horse motor. Not by much but still bigger.
