You may take upwards 35-40 cc to fill that- my combustion chamber is much shallower. The nice thing is- you are a pioneer for others to follow. I drove the high compression motor 75-80 with 5 adults (850-900 lbs of people) over a stretch of mountain we call the point- i was pulling it easy with theottle to spare). Often other drivers would attempt to cut off the metro/ or simply pass it just because. Well just because I'm friendly, I'd make them work for it:) More often than not- they would see they were going 90+ to pass a metro, and not succeeding. You could tell when they realized how fast they were going, the nose would drop down, and they would slow way down. I am so evil like that Dinky has a zero deck (that means the pistons and block are exactly level), and a slightly milled head- just enough to true it up- It runs strong and nice- and feels pretty much stock. It does not have nearly the same get up and go. Edited by econoboxer, Sep 15 2014, 02:18 PM.

Well i got the cc of the head done. Used a old cd case for my plastic. Laid it on top of the head and trace the outline of the combustion chamber. Marked a spot on it to drill a hole to fill it with. Drilled the hole larger than the end of the syringe. Put a bead of grease around the outer edge of the combustion chamber. Laid the plastic cd cover over the combustion chamber. Had a 5 ml syringe left from giving the dogs some meds from a long time ago. Drawed up 5 ml of isopropyl alcohol and squirted it into the hole in the cd case 5 times. It was almost full. Got 2 more ml in it for a grand total of 27 ML. So if 1 ml = 1 cc then my head has 27 cc combustion cambers. I'm tired so i may try it again tomorrow to double check and maybe take a few pics of it. |

Well had a few minutes to try it again and take a few pictures. This is what I used to do it with. ![]() Took the cd case cover off and marked a outline of the combustion chamber on it. Marked a spot were i wanted to drill a hole in it to use a fill hole. Hole needs to be a little bigger than the syringe end. The cd case lid doesn't have flat edges. They are raise a little so it would be better to use a piece of plexiglass but this is all i had. ![]() I used some grease to lay a bead around the combustion chamber. I did fill the combustion chamber almost full before putting on the plastic cover. You do have to be careful while squirting it out. Put the plastic cover on it and finished filling it. ![]() Came up with the same number of ml. 27 So what is my compression ratio then? Over 10 - 1 |

Well now for some bad news. I messed up the oil ring spacer on the last piston I put in. Ordered another set for the 4 cylinder so I'll have a spare in case I mess up again. No more trying to do it after work. Do it after i get up in the morning. Might get them still this week. Hope! |

Been a few weeks since I posted any updates on the car and engine. My brother just recently past away unexpectedly, so had some things to help my mom with. My sister was in town for the funeral and I visited with her some. Got to get this going again before it gets too cold. Got different rings for it since I messed up a oil ring spacer. Got those installed and all is good with the piston assemblies. Cleaned up the oil pump in the ultrasonic cleaner and then painted it. Got it installed and torqued down. Painted the water pump and installed it. Got the oil pick up tube and dip stick tube in the ultrasonic cleaner now so I can get it painted and hopefully put on tomorrow before work. Try and get a few pictures tomorrow to so how it is going. |

Had some time this morning to clean and paint a couple of other things. Still need to put a little paint on the bolts for the water pump and oil pump. Will do this after I get more of the engine put together. ![]() Put the oil pump pick up tube in the parts cleaner and can't believe how clean it came out. Looks like brand new. Put the new o ring on it and torqued it down. Did take Goe Glenn'sw advice and added some oil to the pump hole before putting the tube in. ![]() Got the dip stick tube painted but it still too wet to install. Working on the nasty oil pan now. Might take a couple of days to get it clean and painted. ![]() |

Got my oil pan cleaned up and painted. Knocked all the loose paint and rust off of it. Air powered 90 with a wire brush works great for getting loose paint and rust off. Even took the heavy rtv gasket off too! Couple more coats of paint it should be good to go.![]() Best tool ever! ![]() |
