This is good for a laugh. The 1 ft of pipe just before the muffler on my 94 geo rotted out, muffler new and front to middle new. So, trying to find something the replace that section without clamp, welding. Found that a 2" rad hose fit over the muffler intake perfect and with just a lttle stretching went over cut back to new metal on pipe, six months now and no melting or problems As cut it long stays over pipes by itself! always thought the muffler never gets hot enough as the moisture in it makes it rust from inside out, ( 3 mufflers in about ten years).

So does 1 5/8 fence post from lowes. But that requires welding. And bending. Napa sells the s bend pipe at a reasonable price (around $20 last time I got one)

I used to see a lot of this when I did State Inspections on an every day basis

I applaud your ingenuity, but,
This type of repair, and your rad hose, would not pass VA inspection.

Lol, keeping till it dies so never will never have to go thru safety, only test is the emissions every 2 yrs and they just want a sealed system to end pipe. Also if that's a gas hose, wouldn't that be extremely dangerous for static/ electrical spark! I won't do that! Ps, all the parts I get are at least double what you Americans pay ( if can find in Canada) if if shipped over boarder add duty and shipping. nafta free trade never helped us at all! Cant get in canada customs slaps duty on it anyway!

i hear you and agree with your view on nafta.

it was supposed to make trade among the 3 north american countries easier. instead it made it easier for corporate trade/ trucking and locked down individual trade.

another clear case of "i'm from the government. i'm here to help you." :P

I gotta say, if it works and you can't afford something different... sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. Except I'm not sure about the gas line idea, but as far as exhaust goes.

That isn't a gas line, that is to the catalytic converter.
