I have a 2000 Chevy Metro 1.0L. I am having a problem with the engine going dead after it warms up (driving). After it cools down it will crank right up. When this happens it don't start cutting out or anything so it leads me to believe it is a firing issue. I have replaced spark plugs, pick up coil, distributor cap, rotor, and igniter coil. This didn't help. I have run out of ideas.

Any suggestions?

When you say going dead, you mean the engine stops running and only starts back up after is cools down?

When it stops running you need to check and see if it is not getting spark or not getting gas to help narrow it down.

This is correct. It will not start back up until it cools down. Then I can drive it until the cycle starts again. No check engine light comes on. It is just like you turn the ignition off.

If you don't have a spark tester get one at a auto parts store. When the car dies pull one of the plug wires and check to see if it is getting spark. Might be hard to do if your by your self to turn the car over and watch for spark.

If it has spark then pour a small amount of gas down the throttle body and try starting it.

Your right it does sound like it might be something electrical. Since it just dies like you turned the key off. You may want to post this problem in the electrical section to see if you get a better response.

Fuel injectors fail like this sometimes.

God for a drive with a flashlight and a friend. When it does it, take off the air cleaner and have a good look down the throttle body with the flashlight. Should look dry, if it looks wet, your fuel injector is sticking open. Turn on the key without starting it, if any gas comes out of the injector, it's sticking open. Now have your friend crank it over, make sure your tie is not in the belts. You should see an even cone of fine mist spraying out, drips and dribbles are signs of a clogged injector tip. If it's still dry, then your injector is not firing at all, could be the injector itself, could be electrical.

Hello friends. I have the below problem. I have a 1995 Geo Metro 1300cc engine, very cute and has served me very well. Just that the below error occurs: when I get low 2500 rpm power and not continuous accelerating ... against explodes sometimes and not accelerating.
I check the coil, computer, distributor and the problem continues.
We review the time and is fine.
I check the fuel pressure and right.
We check the oxygen sensor and right.
We spend a full TDI unit with injector and TPS to make sure and nothing.

What can it be? Thank you very much for your help. :banghead
