First guess is electrical. Unplug all connectors and replug them, remove all ground wires, clean them up, and reconnect them.

Second guess is fuel injector sticking.

I'm having the same problem. Seems to be heat related. I have changed several firing components, but this didn't help. After it cools down it will start back up. I can drive it until the cycle starts again. Haven't figured this one out. If you figure this one out please post your solution.

Is the A/C on when it happens, or does it matter if it's on or not...and it helps to have more info like: year, motor, transmission.... :type

The way I troubleshoot those kind of problems is follow the "fuel, air, fire" triangle. Take away any of those three, the engine won't run.

First guess would be intermittent ignition. I have had so many cases of rodent damage to wiring that I assume it's fresh wiring damage when something electrical doesn't work that worked yesterday. Connectors should all be unplugged, cleaned, and re-plugged. The brass contacts inside should be bright and shiny. If they are dull, or if they feel really gritty unplugging them, you need to get all the gritty stuff out and clean / polish the connectors, carefully. These are the weak links in the chain of all electrical components in cars and industrial equipment.

A timing light is one quick and dirty way to see if the ignition system is firing. Just hook it up according to the instructions, trigger it while someone cranks the engine after it has stalled. If it flashes, then you are getting fire.

If you know for sure (or suspect) you have fire and it won't run, a quick and dirty next test is a squirt of starter fluid into the air intake. If it kicks and runs briefly, then you know your ignition works and the problem is somewhere in the fuel delivery system.

It could be an injector or the wiring that feeds it. But a good injector doesn't work if it's not getting fuel consistently.

Check the fuel pump. I've had a fuel pump go intermittent. When you turn on the ignition but don't crank right away, you should hear the fuel pump whirr back under the rear seat in the gas tank for a couple of seconds. If you hear total silence, there's a problem.

Once you've checked these, then things can be narrowed down a bit further.
