@arudlang I agree, an average mindless driver with cvt is probably ok but nothing can win against a smart human when it comes to controlling every aspect of a vehicle. RPM speed direction when to brake shift and make a lane change. I still think a smart human wins over computers.......for now :news

I realized after the fact my post was a little overkill... Can you tell just how much fun family members and dealership salespeople have when they start talking to me about how great their CVTs are? :lol :whistle I'll shut up now :hiding

I agree with you too arudlang. :thumb I got a cvt insight and you can easily beat it at its own game if you shift to manual mode and shift its ratios yourself. :drivin

Now rather the crz is a sports car, thats another story. :rofl

The new CVT transmissions are the pinnacle of fuel economy performance. They out perform he manuals across the EPA boards.
And on the EPA test is the ONLY time they outperform manuals They're tuned specifically for that test, in real life they're better than automatics, but no where close to a manual. We have this comparison beautifully on the Kizashi board, because there's only one engine available, it's a pure comparison. The CVT cars are slower, get less mileage, and now they're starting to puke out transmissions around 60K miles. Other than that, they're great.
