Hello All, Working on my 93 3/5 and having a time getting off the Crankshaft Bolt. The forum had some great ideas and I tried my impact driver as per Johnny Mullet's directions to no avail. My little compressor goes up to 120 PSI and I thought that would be enough. Then tried the breaker bar with the starter motor method and still not budging. Any thoughts on method 3? 3 Pot |

Got a propane torch? Warm up the bolt to soften the factory thread locker.. Take your time. If you did not plan on changing your seal, well I would especially if you warm it up .. I had a beast of a time doing my first one.Cheater bar on a breaker bar. Motor out of the car.. |

Stick a screwdriver in the back of the flywheel. That will prevent the crank from turning allowing you to break it free. |

I tried Big Rhino's breaker bar method with heat and finally with a mighty CRACK!!! the bolt let loose! And then it just turns by hand and all after that. I was sure it would break off but thankfully all is intact. Now to finish the oil seal and pan gasket. I will use gasket maker as I heard that is more reliable. Thanks for the help! 3 Pot |
